Elden Ring
The action takes place in the Lands Between, an isolated continent under the rule of Queen Marika. The sky of this world is dominated by the Erdtree, the symbol of the Golden Order. The eponymous Elden Ring is not a piece of jewelry, but a cosmic web of magical runes that dictates the fundamental laws of reality and lies shattered in ruins. The fragments of the ring corrupt the direct descendants of Marika as Great Runes and trigger a cruel war of the demigods that ruins the entire world. Into this merciless struggle for survival step the Tarnished, fallen and exiled warriors who are called back from exile by a mysterious Grace. Their task is to overthrow the demigods who have fallen into madness, collect the powerful runes and ascend the throne as the new Elden Lord.

Background
The film adaptation of the video game "Elden Ring" is being directed and based on a screenplay by Alex Garland, who is known for his atmospheric works. The independent studio A24 is producing the film directly for the high-resolution IMAX format. The Scottish Highlands and the unforgiving volcanic landscapes of Iceland serve as real-life locations for the harsh landscapes.
The cast focuses on high-profile characters and includes Kit Connor, Cailee Spaeny, Ben Whishaw, Nick Offerman and Jonathan Pryce. The story was penned by Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R. R. Martin. Martin created the extensive history and the complex family trees of the gods, while Miyazaki has this prehistory culminate in a huge catastrophe.
