Nini (Flora Li Thiemann) and Jameelah (Emily Kusche) , 14 years old and friends since childhood, are on the cusp of adulthood—and yet, in a way, already right in the thick of it. Nini, who is German, and Jameelah, who holds an Iraqi passport and has a burning desire to become German. They're inseparable and invincible; they go to school together, rebel sometimes more and sometimes less, and mix their favorite drink in the bathroom during break: "Tiger Milk," a delicious blend of milk, passion fruit juice, and Mariacron. In the coming weeks, a decision is to be made on the naturalization application of Jameelah and her mother (Narges Rashidi). But for now, it's summer in Berlin, and the school break is about to begin. The girls roam through the city, fall in love at the outdoor pool, and play word games: "night shift" vs. "naked shift," "air raid shelter" vs. "pleasure shelter." This summer is when "it" is supposed to happen, and they practice for the real thing "on Kurfürstenstraße," where the professionals hang out. One night, while performing a love spell on the housing complex's playground, they witness a murder. And suddenly, everything comes to a standstill—their plans, their future, their lives.
