Overview

The series centers on the middle-class Heck family living in the fictional town of Orson, Indiana. The plot is told from the point of view of the mother, Frankie Heck. The central themes of the series are financial hardships, difficulties at school, at work and later at college, all kinds of social and family obligations, and the everyday life of the family of five.
