New rumor about the "X-Men" movie: According to Knight Edge Media, Peter Claffey is reportedly set to play the superhero Beast. Most people are likely to recognize the actor from his leading role in the "Game of Thrones" spin-off "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms."

Speculation that Claffey might be a candidate for the role of the mutant Beast began several months ago. At that time, "Beef" actor Charles Melton was also being considered for the part. However, it has since been reported that Melton will likely not be playing the character after all. As for Claffey: There has been no official confirmation so far. For now, this should be considered more of a rumor and therefore taken with a grain of salt.

As Beast, aka Hank McCoy, Claffey would play a character who, alongside Cyclops (Scott Summers), Marvel Girl (Jean Grey), Angel (Warren Worthington III), and Iceman (Bobby Drake), is one of the original "X-Men" members. The superhero made his Marvel Comics debut in 1963 and is known for his superhuman physical strength and agility, as well as his brilliant mind. Over time, his appearance has changed significantly in the comics. The character was given a blue, animalistic look that has been continually refined. In previous "X-Men" films, the superhero was portrayed at times by Kelsey Grammer. Nicholas Hoult portrayed a younger version of the mutant.

The cast of the new X-Men movie

It remains to be seen whether Claffey will actually land the role in the new "X-Men" movie. However, several other cast members of the Marvel adventure have been officially confirmed for several months now. Among them is the actor playing X-Men founder Charles Xavier, aka Professor X. The powerful telepath will be played by Christopher Abbott, who is known for his role in the horror film "Wolf Man," among others. Kit Connor, the lead actor in the coming-of-age series "Heartstopper," will be seen as Cyclops. The mutant with the deadly eyes has made a name for himself as the leader of the "X-Men." Emma Frost will be played by "Ready or Not" star Samara Weaving. The character, also known as the White Queen, possesses telepathic powers and can transform her body into an organic diamond form. Initially, she was an adversary of the X-Men, but she later switched sides.

Inde Navarette, who caused a sensation with the horror hit "Obsession," takes on the role of Rogue in the "X-Men" film – a character who can absorb the energy of others through touch. Maya Boyd will portray the superheroine Storm, also known as Ororo Munroe. The mutant has the ability to control the weather and use it to her advantage in battle against her opponents. Boyd previously performed on Broadway and is likely still unknown to most of the global audience, making her an exciting new addition. The villain of the new "X-Men" movie has also been confirmed: "Star Wars" actor Adam Driver will play Mr. Sinister.

Finally, last month it was reported that Asa Germann is being considered for the role of "X-Men" member Angel. Like Beast, Angel – aka Warren Worthington III – is one of the original "X-Men" heroes. The mutant has angel-like wings, which were replaced by metallic wings in later stories. Angel has already appeared on the big screen in previous film adaptations. In "X-Men: The Last Stand," he was played by Ben Foster, and in "X-Men: Apocalypse," by Ben Hardy.

When does X-Men hit theaters?

Jake Schreier is directing the new "X-Men" film. He previously gained experience in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with "Thunderbolts." Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo are on board as screenwriters; like Schreier, they were also involved in "Thunderbolts." It will still be a while before the new Marvel blockbuster hits theaters: "X-Men" is set to be released on May 5, 2028.
