The Legend of Zelda: Link and Zelda Cast for Upcoming Live-Action Adaptation
The release date for the video game adaptation is already known
It's official: Nintendo has cast key roles for the upcoming live-action film adaptation of "The Legend of Zelda". The actors for Link and Zelda have been announced via social media!
Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link
One of these is Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, who will be playing Link. The actor may be known as the voice of "Pinocchio" from the 2022 live-action film adaptation. He was also part of the cast of the Netflix horror series "The Haunting of Bly Manor". Link is the main protagonist of Nintendo's "Legend of Zelda" video game series. He is a brave young hero who repeatedly sets out on a journey to save the kingdom of Hyrule, protect Princess Zelda and defeat evil.
Bo Bragason as Zelda
There was a small surprise with the casting of Princess Zelda. Although there was initially long speculation about "Euphoria" star Hunter Schafer, another actress will be taking on the role of the iconic character: Bo Bragason. The actress is still a relatively unknown name in the acting business. She was last seen in the Disney Plus series "Renegade Nell".
Shigeru Miyamoto, the lead game developer of "Legend of Zelda", also commented on the casting of the two key characters. He is very much looking forward to seeing the two actors in their new roles. They will be directed by Wes Ball, known for "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes" and the "Maze Runner" films. The screenplay will be written by "Jurassic World" author Derek Connolly.
Nothing is yet known about the specific plot of the film. However, fans already know when they will be able to experience "The Legend of Zelda" on the big screen. The film adaptation is scheduled to be released on May 7, 2027.
The Legend of Zelda: a phenomenon in video game history
Since its first release in 1986, "The Legend of Zelda" has become one of the most well-known, influential and popular video game series in the world. With millions of games sold and numerous awards, the series not only stands for commercial success, but also for artistic quality and cultural influence. But what is it that makes "Zelda" so fascinating? Why has this series inspired players of all generations for decades?
The magic of the open world
Even the very first installment of the series – "The Legend of Zelda" on the NES – offered a game world that invited players to discover a foreign world on their own. This freedom was special at the time. There was no linear structure, no signposts, no explanations – just a world full of secrets. This principle has run through the series ever since and has been taken to a new level with subsequent titles.
Timeless themes and emotional depth
At the center of the games is the hero Link, who repeatedly saves the kingdom of Hyrule in various incarnations – mostly from the sinister Ganon and to rescue Princess Zelda. But the story is more than a classic good versus evil tale. Time and again, themes such as time, memory, loss and identity play a central role.
Music, atmosphere and nostalgia
Another reason for the series' enduring popularity is its extraordinary soundtrack. Composer Koji Kondo created a piece of music with the series' title melody that is now one of the most famous in video game history. Many other musical themes also trigger nostalgic feelings in fans worldwide. The games always manage to create a dense, atmospheric world in which you can lose yourself. Whether it's the quiet or epic moments – the atmosphere in "Zelda" games is unique.
Innovation and change
Despite its high recognition value, the series rarely rests on its laurels. New games bring innovation. Nintendo often manages to combine tradition and innovation with "Zelda" without losing the core identity of the series.
A loyal and creative community
Last but not least, "The Legend of Zelda" also lives from its passionate fan community. Cosplays, fan art, theories about the timeline, speedruns and YouTube documentaries - the community is lively, creative and closely interwoven with the history of the series. Many players associate personal memories with certain parts of the series.
"The Legend of Zelda" is a cultural phenomenon. The series has connected generations of gamers, inspired developers worldwide and set standards in terms of game design and atmosphere. The mixture of adventure, freedom and emotionality made Zelda one of the greatest video game series ever.
