Star Wars Starfighter: All the Latest Information & Leaks!
Everything about the new adventure from a galaxy far, far away

Star Wars is heading back to theaters – the second attempt! Right after "The Mandalorian & Grogu", the next space adventure is already on its way: "Star Wars: Starfighter". Until now, we've only had vague details, but a massive leak has revealed a lot more about the story and its characters! Could this movie have what it takes to save Star Wars? Let's take a closer look!
Starfighter: A New Era
First, let's talk about where the movie fits in the timeline: "Starfighter" takes place five years after Episode 9, making it the furthest point in the Star Wars timeline ever explored on the big screen. However, director Shawn Levy has made it clear that this is not a continuation of the Skywalker saga, but a completely standalone adventure. And that's exactly where the latest leak from insider MakingStarWars comes in, revealing some more details about the story.
The Story and the Leak
We already knew that Hollywood A-lister Ryan Gosling would be taking on the lead role. But now we apparently have a name as well: he's said to be playing a character named "Cade", who is reportedly very similar to Han Solo in terms of personality. His mission? To protect a young boy named "Rone" or "Ronin" against evil pursuers and escort him to a refuge for Jedi. The boy is played by up-and-coming actor Flynn Gray. According to the leak, their destination is a kind of Jedi academy on the planet Adaria. This new world is described as lush and green, with visuals heavily inspired by East Asia.
The Cast: Heroes, Villains, and a Comeback
Besides Gosling and Gray, "Starfighter" brings together an impressive cast. Amy Adams was officially confirmed several months ago and, according to the new information, she is said to play the boy's mother.
The leak also confirms the rumors that Eva Mendes is part of the cast. She is said to be taking on the role of a glamorous cantina owner named "Belle", who is 650 years old. Mendes is married to Gosling in real life and had largely stepped away from acting for quite some time.
But what about the dark side of the Force? Leading the villains is British actor Matt Smith, who is joined by Mia Goth. The leak claims that she'll engage in a thrilling lightsaber duel on the planet Adaria with another character played by "Rebel Ridge" star Aaron Pierre.
Director and Release
The project is in the hands of a well-matched duo: Shawn Levy, known for movies like "Deadpool & Wolverine" and "Free Guy", is sitting in the director's chair. The screenplay was written by Jonathan Tropper, who previously collaborated with Levy on "The Adam Project". Filming wrapped in England and the Mediterranean region in December 2025, with the project currently in post-production. And they're clearly taking their time with it: the movie was originally scheduled for release in December, but has since been moved to next summer: "Star Wars: Starfighter" is set to hit theaters on May 28, 2027.
