"Marvel Spotlight" has been around since 1971

More clarity for the MCU: Marvel is implementing a new strategy to help viewers navigate the increasingly complex film and series universe.

"Marvel Spotlight" has been around since 1971 and at the time indicated to comic fans that the respective titles were completely independent stories that did not require any prior knowledge. Marvel is now reviving the banner to add it to individual projects. According to Marvel streaming boss Brad Winderbaum, "Echo" will be the first series to run under this banner:

"Marvel Spotlight gives us a platform to bring more grounded, character-driven stories to the screen, and in the case of "Echo," focusing on street-level stakes over larger MCU continuity. Just like comics fans didn't need to read "Avengers" or "Fantastic Four" to enjoy a "Ghost Rider" Spotlight comic, our audience doesn't need to have seen other Marvel series to understand what's happening in Maya's story."

This move should ensure that the MCU includes more people who have had less exposure to the movie and series universe in the future.
