The First Teaser
The teaser centers on Dexter's visit to the optometrist—a typical scene for the series, which often shows Dexter going about his daily tasks. But of course, it wouldn't be "Dexter" if we didn't also see the protagonist's Dark Passenger. The teaser shows the serial killer in short clips, completely in his element. Fans won't have to wait much longer to see Michael C. Hall reprise his signature role. The teaser playfully uses Dexter's visit to the optometrist to reveal the start date: Season 2 premieres on Paramount+ on October 30, 2026.

The official plot description for the season has already been released and reads as follows:
"In the second season of 'Dexter: Resurrection,' Dexter Morgan (Hall) is caught between two killers – one notorious and the other terrorizing New York in ways no one ever anticipated – all while battling his greatest enemy yet: a mid-life crisis. Harrison (Jack Alcott) continues his own pursuit of justice as father and son face their darkest chapter."
The Cast of Dexter: Resurrection
In addition to Hall, many other familiar faces from the "Dexter" universe are returning. Among them is "Kill Bill" star Uma Thurman, who appeared as Charley in the last season. Also joining the cast are Jack Alcott as Dexter's son Harrison, James Remar as Harry Morgan, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Blessing Kamara, Kadia Sarif as Detective Claudette Wallace, and Dominic Fumusa as her partner Melvin Oliva.
At the same time, a "Dexter" veteran is joining the main cast of Season 2: Desmond Harrington made a brief appearance in Season 1 of "Resurrection"—in the new season, Detective Joey Quinn now plays a central role. Harrington has been a regular on the serial killer series since Season 3 of the original show.
The actors playing the antagonists mentioned in the synopsis have also been announced. "Succession" star Brian Cox will take on the role of the notorious New York Ripper. Dan Stevens, meanwhile, is set to portray the Five Borough Killer. Also new to the cast are "The Last of Us" actor Gabriel Luna, as well as Bokeem Woodbine and Nona Parker Johnson.
Surprisingly, two other familiar faces will also appear in Season 2. Krysten Ritter will take on a guest role. She was already part of the cast in Season 1 as Lady Vengeance. But the bigger name is clearly David Zayas, who, according to media reports, was spotted on set. Spoiler for Season 1 of "Resurrection": Dexter's former friend and colleague Angel Batista died at the end of Season 1. But "Dexter" is known for bringing back deceased characters as a kind of vision of Dexter Morgan. That now seems to be the most likely explanation for Batista as well. According to information from the industry magazine Deadline, it can be ruled out that the fan favorite is still alive.

"Dexter" is one of the best-known series in the crime and thriller genres. The show centers on Dexter Morgan, a forensic blood spatter analyst with the Miami Metro Police Department who leads an unremarkable life on the surface but harbors a dark secret: He is a serial killer who, following a code developed by his adoptive father Harry, kills only people who have themselves committed serious crimes.
The original series aired from 2006 to 2013 and is based on the novels by Jeff Lindsay. After the main series ended, the universe was expanded a few years later with additional productions. "Dexter: New Blood" picked up where the original series finale left off in 2021 and moved from Miami to a snowy small town. This was followed in 2024 by "Dexter: Original Sin," a prequel series that delves deeper into Dexter's early years. However, the series was canceled after one season. In 2025, the universe was expanded once again with "Dexter: Resurrection," which picks up where "New Blood" left off.
