The Accountant 2: First image of new film with Ben Affleck released

Ben Affleck is returning to action cinema - and even this year. In the thriller "The Accountant 2", he will once again take on the role of math genius Christian Wolff.

Amazon MGM Studios has now also released the first image. Alongside Ben Affleck, "The Punisher" star Jon Bernthal can also be seen in the picture. The actor was also part of the cast in the first part from 2016 as Christian's brother Brax. Also returning will be "Whiplash" actor J.K. Simmons and Cynthia Addai-Robinson, who was last seen in "Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power".

In "The Accountant 2", their character contacts Christian Wolff to help her solve a murder. They also receive support from his deadly brother Brax.

As in part one, Gavin O'Connor will once again be responsible for directing. He is best known for the sports drama "Warrior" with Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton. In addition to "The Accountant", he recently shot the basketball film "The Way Back" with Ben Affleck.

The Town

Ben Affleck not only showed his acting skills, but also his talent as a director in "The Town", a gripping thriller in which he plays a bank robber named Doug MacRay. During a bank robbery, Doug and his accomplices take bank employee Claire (Rebecca Hall) hostage. After they let Claire go, a romance develops between her and Doug, without her knowing that Doug was the hostage-taker. The film was well received by both critics and audiences. "The Town" stands for the modern gangster film and is one of Affleck's best directorial works.

Argo

As director and lead actor in "Argo", Ben Affleck not only scored another major success, but also won the Academy Award for Best Picture. The film is based on the true story of a secret CIA mission during the 1979 hostage-taking at the US embassy in Iran. Affleck plays Tony Mendez, a CIA agent who stages a risky drama to rescue six American diplomats from Iran. Argo was a huge critical and financial hit, and recognition for Affleck's directorial work increased.

Gone Girl

In David Fincher's "Gone Girl", Ben Affleck plays Nick Dunne, a man who is suddenly suspected of murdering his wife Amy (Rosamund Pike) after she mysteriously disappears. The movie is a tense thriller that sheds light on the darker facets of relationships. Affleck delivers one of the best performances of his career, playing a man whose life is slowly falling apart. The film was critically acclaimed and featured Affleck in a serious, multi-layered role that further cemented his reputation as a seroius actor.

The Accountant
