Good news for all fans of "Paddington": Even before the release of "Paddington in Peru", the makers confirmed that "Paddington 4" is already in the works and there will also be a series!

This was revealed by two StudioCanal executives during a presentation at the Brand Licensing Europe event in London. "Paddington 4" is set to be released in theaters in time for the character's 70th anniversary in 2027/2028. However, Thierry Guyonnet, one of the people behind the franchise, emphasized via Variety that it is still too early for detailed information. A "Paddington" series is also at the top of the makers' agenda, but is apparently still at a very early stage of development.

Nevertheless, this news should be of great significance to the many fans of the loveable bear, who was first created by Michael Bond in the 1950s. After all, the first two movies by director Paul King were box office hits and enjoyed great popularity among fans and critics alike. It is yet to be seen whether "Paddington in Peru" will maintain this success story. The new adventure will be released in movie theaters on January 17, 2025.

The "Paddington" Films: Modern Classics of Family Entertainment

The two "Paddington" films are among the most charming and successful family movies of recent years. Based on the popular children's book character of the Peruvian bear by Michael Bond, the films have delighted audiences around the world with their humor, warmth and the adorable adventures of Paddington. The films, which were released in 2014 and 2017, combine nostalgic charm with modern film technology and an excellent cast, making them timeless classics of family entertainment.

Paddington (2014)

The first movie, simply called "Paddington", tells the story of the little bear who comes to London from the deepest Peru to find a new home. Wearing an old hat and with a penchant for jam sandwiches, Paddington ends up at the famous train station after which he was named. There he meets the friendly Brown family, who take him in after he reports that he is without a place to stay. The Browns - consisting of father Henry (Hugh Bonneville), mother Mary (Sally Hawkins), children Judy and Jonathan, and housekeeper Mrs. Bird (Julie Walters) - initially offer Paddington a temporary shelter while he tries to find his uncle.

The movie strikes a perfect balance between heart and humor. Paddington's efforts to adapt to life in a human society lead to comic misadventures, but it is his kindness and optimism that make him irresistible. Ben Whishaw lends Paddington his gentle, naively childlike voice, while Nicole Kidman plays the perfect villain as fearsome museum director Millicent Clyde. She has made it her mission to capture and stuff Paddington in order to immortalize him in an exhibition.

The movie was a huge success, impressing critics and audiences alike with its perfect blend of adventure, comedy and emotional moments. The detailed animation of Paddington made him a lovable and believable character, while the story addressed universal themes such as family, tolerance and the search for belonging.

Paddington 2 (2017)

The sequel, "Paddington 2", was released in 2017 and was quickly deemed even better than the first movie. In this movie, Paddington lives happily with the Browns and has settled well into life in London. He is well-liked by everyone in the neighborhood, and his good-natured personality brings joy to the lives of those around him. The central plot element revolves around a valuable pop-up book that Paddington wants to buy as a present for his Aunt Lucy's 100th birthday. But before he can purchase it, the book is stolen and Paddington is falsely accused of the theft. This leads to an adventure in which the Browns try to prove Paddington's innocence.

One of the highlights of the movie is Hugh Grant's performance as narcissistic, washed-up actor Phoenix Buchanan, who serves as the villain. Grant plays the role with obvious relish and irony and has been widely praised for his performance. His performance even earned him several nominations, including a BAFTA Award.

"Paddington 2" was celebrated for its warm-hearted message, subtle humor and impressive visual design. The mix of slapstick, emotional moments and a strong ensemble cast made the film a huge success, with many critics calling it one of the best films of 2017.

The two "Paddington" movies are not only technically impressive, but also tell stories about friendship, family and being different. The character of Paddington embodies a timeless message of kindness and togetherness that appeals to viewers of all ages.
