News from Hollywood's dream team: Although "Killers of the Flower Moon" will only have its wide theatrical release on October 20 of this year, there are already plans for another collaboration between star director Martin Scorsese and actor Leonardo DiCaprio. "The Wager" is set to be another novel adaptation by author David Grann and will tell a story between heroism and mutiny.

A major highlight of this year's movie year is waiting for us with the Western crime thriller "Killers of the Flower Moon". The film by Martin Scorsese is based on a non-fiction book by author David Grann and will deal with a series of murders of Native Americans in Oklahoma. With Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and Lily Gladstone, the movie has a phenomenal cast and should also play a big role when it comes to the upcoming Oscars.

Author David Grann revealed during a press tour in France that it would likely not stop at just one film adaptation of his books and that Scorsese would now devote himself to "The Wager". "The Wager" - with the subtitle "A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny and Murder" - is based on true events and recounts the story of a group of men who are washed ashore on the coast of Brazil. They report that they are the sole survivors of the British ship Wager, shipwrecked on a deserted island after fighting a Spanish galleon. The members of the group are initially celebrated as heroes, however, some six months later, other men arrive who accuse them of mutiny and reproach them for leaving the rest of the crew for dead.

The movie is to take place in three locations: At sea, the island and in a courtroom. Leonardo DiCaprio will once again play a leading role. More specific details, though, are not available yet. It also remains to be seen whether "The Wager" will really be Scorsese's next project. The director has plenty of other projects up his sleeve, including a movie about Jesus, a biopic about former U.S. president Theodore Roosevelt - also featuring DiCaprio - and a project about the band Grateful Dead, in which Jonah Hill is to play the role of frontman Jerry Garcia. Hill already collaborated with Scorsese in "The Wolf of Wall Street".

It therefore remains to be seen which project the director will tackle next - "The Wager" is nonetheless considered a hot contender.
