Avengers Endgame Encore: Exclusive look at Doomsday may vary

"Avengers: Endgame" is coming back to theaters soon. For fans, the re-release of this seven-year-old Marvel hit isn't just interesting for nostalgic reasons. That's because "Avengers: Endgame Encore" is also meant to serve as a bridge to the new blockbuster "Avengers: Doomsday." Here's what you need to know.

In addition to the familiar film, viewers will also get an "exclusive look" at "Doomsday" when they watch the re-release of "Endgame" in theaters. In addition to regular theater screenings, "Avengers: Endgame Encore" will also be shown on IMAX and Infinity Vision-certified screens. According to a press release from Disney, the IMAX and Infinity Vision screenings may be of particular interest to fans. The reason: According to the press release, these screenings will feature an "additional sneak peek" at "Doomsday." The key word here is likely "additional," meaning there could be even more footage from "Doomsday" than what's shown in the regular theatrical screenings anyway. According to Joe Russo, who co-directed both "Avengers: Endgame" and "Avengers: Doomsday" with his brother Anthony, it's important to catch the re-release of "Endgame." Speaking to Fandango, he said:

"I think it's important to see 'Endgame' in theaters again for two reasons: One, if you want to have a lot of fun, cheering and screaming, and reliving all the emotions you had the first time you saw it. Number two, I think it's required viewing for following the story in 'Doomsday'."

Is that really necessary to understand the story of "Avengers: Doomsday"? Who knows. Maybe his statement is just clever PR to lure more people into the screenings. In any case, viewers will soon be able to form their own opinion: "Avengers: Endgame Encore" hits theaters on September 25, 2026.

Avengers Endgame Encore in theaters: What is Infinity Vision?

Instead, according to the official website, Infinity Vision is a certification from The Walt Disney Company intended to indicate that a theater meets certain quality standards regarding screen quality, sound and projection. "Avengers: Endgame Encore" and "Avengers: Doomsday" are set to be the first films to hit theaters under this certification. More are expected to follow.

"Avengers: Endgame" marks the return to the big screen of a film that took the movie world by storm in 2019.
