Hawaii Five-0 Movie in the Works from the Director of Spider-Man: A New Day

One of the most famous U.S. crime series is set to return to the big screen soon. According to the industry magazine Deadline, a "Hawaii Five-0" movie is in the works at Paramount Pictures – and none other than "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" director Destin Daniel Cretton is set to helm the project. According to Deadline, Cretton will direct and produce the remake. Chris Bremner and Noah Oppenheim have been hired to write the screenplay . Bremner's credits include "Bad Boys for Life". Oppenheim, meanwhile, wrote the screenplay for "Jackie", starring Natalie Portman.
"Hawaii Five-0" premiered in 1968 and quickly became an international hit. Over the course of twelve seasons, Jack Lord portrayed Detective Steve McGarrett, who led an elite unit of the Hawaiian police. The unit dealt with cases that went far beyond ordinary police work. Murder, kidnappings, terrorism, and organized crime were the order of the day. A remake followed in 2010, which also built up a considerable fan base over the course of ten seasons. With Alex O'Loughlin as Steve McGarrett and Scott Caan as Danny "Danno" Williams, a new generation took the helm.
It remains to be seen whether the whole thing will work as a feature film. No concrete details about the plot have been released yet. The cast hasn't been finalized either. The recasting of Steve McGarrett, in particular, is sure to spark speculation among fans. We'll keep you posted!
These Shows Are Perfect for Fans of Hawaii Five-0
Anyone who misses "Hawaii Five-0" probably isn't just looking for just any new crime series. Magnum P.I.: Hawaii Is Still Hawaii

What connects "NCIS: Los Angeles" to "Hawaii Five-0" is, above all, the interplay of police work, big action moments, and a core group of main characters. The cases can certainly get serious, but there's still plenty of room for lighthearted dialogue and the show's signature team humor. Anyone who particularly enjoyed the action and the chemistry between the characters in "Hawaii Five-0" is sure to find something to love here.
S.W.A.T.: More Tactical Action
"S.W.A.T." leans even more heavily toward action. The series centers on a special unit of the Los Angeles Police Department that is deployed for particularly dangerous operations. Kidnappings, hostage situations, terrorist attacks, and organized crime are part of the team's daily routine.
Similar to "Hawaii Five-0", the relationships between the team members play an important role. The series thrives not only on its cases but also on the characters' personal stories. The biggest difference: "S.W.A.T." is much more focused on realistic police work and tactical operations. However, anyone who tuned in to "Hawaii Five-0" primarily for the fast-paced action should give this series a chance.
9-1-1: Spectacle Meets Personal Stories
"9-1-1" takes a slightly different approach. Instead of a police team, the focus is on firefighters, paramedics, and police officers. However, the series also features spectacular operations, dramatic emergencies, and an ensemble cast whose members gradually become a close-knit community.
