Another mission for Enola Holmes is imminent: the series of the eponymous detective and sister of Sherlock Holmes continues to enjoy great popularity. A new director has now been confirmed for part 3.

According to Deadline, British director Philip Barantini, known for "Boiling Point" with Stephen Graham, is to take over the direction of "Enola Holmes 3". While the contracts have not yet been finalized, it is expected that Millie Bobby Brown will once again take on the role of the young detective.

Insiders report that Barantini is taking a darker and more adult approach, further developing the characters and world of Enola Holmes. His concept is being compared to the third "Harry Potter" film, "The Prisoner of Azkaban". When "Enola Holmes 3" will be released remains unclear for the time being. As the film is still in the early stages of development, a release before 2025 seems unlikely.

The Enola Holmes films: A modern detective franchise with charm and cleverness

The "Enola Holmes" films have established themselves as true audience favorites since the debut of the first part in 2020. With a mix of clever puzzles, gripping adventures and a strong heroine who asserts herself in a male-dominated world, they have become a flagship for Netflix. Based on the book series by Nancy Springer, the films tell the story of Enola Holmes, the younger sister of the legendary detective Sherlock Holmes. But Enola is far more than just an appendage to her famous brother – she is smart, independent and determined to go her own way.

Enola Holmes (2020) : The beginning of a new adventure

The first film, "Enola Holmes", transports viewers to Victorian London and introduces Enola (played by Millie Bobby Brown) as a protagonist who is as charming as she is headstrong. After the disappearance of her mother Eudoria (Helena Bonham Carter) , Enola embarks on an adventurous quest that confronts her with intrigue, secrets and dangerous encounters.

On her journey, Enola not only has to assert herself against conservative social expectations, but also against powerful opponents such as the Tewkesbury family, whose young lord (Louis Partridge) plays a central role in the story. In doing so, she displays a brilliant intelligence and the courage to rebel against the injustices of her time.

The film scored with its dynamic staging, charming characters and the successful mix of action, humor and detective work. Millie Bobby Brown was particularly convincing in the title role, bringing Enola to the screen with wit and depth. Henry Cavill as Sherlock Holmes and Sam Claflin as the stern older brother Mycroft Holmes complemented the cast perfectly. "Enola Holmes" was a great success and captivated both young and adult viewers.

Enola Holmes 2 (2022) : Bigger, more exciting, more personal

With the success of the first film, a sequel was only a matter of time. "Enola Holmes 2" continues the adventures of the young detective and takes the story to a new level. This time, Enola sets up her own detective agency, but initially meets with little interest as people don't take her seriously because of her age and gender.

Everything changes when a young girl asks Enola for help to find her missing sister. The case leads Enola deep into the working world of match factory workers and to a large-scale conspiracy that affects not only London, but also her own family.

In "Enola Holmes 2", Enola not only has the opportunity to put her detective skills to the test again, but also to deepen her relationship with Sherlock. Henry Cavill's Sherlock has a larger role in this movie, and the chemistry between the siblings makes for emotional and humorous moments. At the same time, the movie addresses important social issues such as class inequality and women's rights without losing its entertaining tone.

Why the Enola Holmes films are so successful

The "Enola Holmes" films stand out for their fresh and modern approach to the classic detective genre. With a strong female lead character who is not only clever but also emotionally complex, the films appeal to a wide audience. Millie Bobby Brown carries the series with her charisma and authenticity, while the high-quality production and well thought-out scripts provide exciting entertainment.
