Edgar Wright is back! After presenting us with the 2021 horror film "Last Night in Soho", the Brit will now be responsible for a new film adaptation of Stephen King's novel "The Running Man". In the leading role: Glen Powell.

The plot of "The Running Man" follows Ben Richards, who takes part in a brutal reality show in 2025 America in order to raise money to save his seriously ill daughter. Among other things, he has to take on hunters and the show's viewers, who want to kill him in the most media-effective way possible. The first film adaptation of the novel took place in 1988 with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the leading role. However, this version deviated greatly from the original and focused more on action and effects.

According to TheWrap, Edgar Wright is planning a more authentic adaptation that will be based more closely on the original novel. Ben Richards will be played by Glen Powell, who was last seen in the sequel "Twisters" and is currently one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood. Although a release date for "The Running Man" has not yet been set, initial information suggests that filming will begin in November of this year.
