The series is regarded as an Internet phenomenon

Internet phenomena are very often preposterous enough on their own. But when something is successful, it also attracts Hollywood interest. Now the YouTube series "Skibidi Toilet" is to be made into a series or a film - by Michael Bay.

The videos by Alexey Gerasimov aka "DaFuq!?Boom!" aka "Blugray" revolve around a fictional war between toilets with human heads and people with electronic devices as heads. The videos, produced with the game engine Source, have been going viral since February 2023.

In Variety's podcast "Strictly Business", director Michael Bay and former Paramount Pictures boss Adam Goodman spoke about their plans to turn "Skibidi Toilet" into a series, movie or more. Accordingly, Bay is currently working closely with creator Gerasimov on content ideas. As bizarre as the idea may seem, the audience for the internet phenomenon seems to be enormous - Variety describes the series as one of the first media icons of Generation Alpha.

It is currently unclear what a TV or cinema adaptation might look like exactly. According to Goodman, they are toying with the idea of a live-action animation hybrid in the style of "John Wick" or "District 9". That sounds just as crazy as "Skibidi Toilet" itself: We shall see whether the YouTube series' success can be sustained in traditional media.
