A new "PAW Patrol" movie is in the works. One thing is already certain: "PAW Patrol 4" will be directed by Cal Brunker, who also directed the previous three films in the animated series. He is co-writing the screenplay with Bob Barlen, who also served as a writer on the previous films. The release date for the fourth big-screen adventure, however, has not yet been set. It will likely be several years before the film is released. According to Deadline, "PAW Patrol 4" is currently slated for release in 2029.

No details about the plot of the new film have been revealed yet. According to Deadline, director Cal Brunker had this to say about the story:

"Watching the way audiences have connected with the PAW movies has been incredible. We've written a new story that we think audiences are going to love, and we can't wait to share it with the world."

In light of the fourth big-screen adventure, Brunker also took to social media. He commented on the announcement of "PAW Patrol 4" as briefly as he did enthusiastically:

"So excited for this!!"

PAW Patrol: A hit at the box office

The "PAW Patrol" movies are based on the animated TV series of the same name, which has been airing since 2013 and is primarily aimed at a children's audience. The story centers on the eponymous pack of dogs, who, together with the boy Ryder, help other people and animals in need. To date, the series comprises 14 seasons with a total of 311 episodes. And there appears to be no end in sight. A few years ago, series creator Keith Chapman spoke with The Hollywood Reporter on the occasion of the show's tenth anniversary. He explained that, in his view, the series could continue for decades to come.

But the "PAW Patrol" franchise enjoys great popularity not only on television but also on the big screen. Accordingly, the animal squad has also been quite successful in theaters. "PAW Patrol: The Movie" was released in 2021 and grossed $144 million worldwide. In the film, the PAW Patrol heads to Adventure City to stop Mayor Humdinger from wreaking havoc.

Superpowers and dinosaurs

About two years later, "Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie" followed. The new installment in the series managed to top its predecessor's earnings: the big-screen adventure grossed a total of $205 million. This time, the animal heroes gained superpowers from crystals found in a meteor. "PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie," released this year, fell somewhere between the first two films with $160 million. The premise of the film: The crew is forced to make an emergency landing on an island. And as the title suggests, they're joined there by dinosaurs.

Given the worldwide box office revenue of over half a billion US dollars that the three films collectively brought in, it's not too surprising that another movie, "PAW Patrol 4," is now in the works. What series creator Keith Chapman says about the TV adventures apparently also applies to the big-screen spin-offs: There's no end in sight.
