Terrifier 4 officially in the works!

Part 4 could be the grand finale of the series

By Jonas Reichel on

"Terrifier 3" was a complete success: with a tiny budget of just 2 million dollars, it grossed 90 million dollars worldwide. So it should come as no surprise that part 4 is now officially in the works!

Director Damien Leone announced on X that he is currently writing the screenplay and wants to reveal the origin of Art the Clown in it.

"The script for Terrifier 4 is under way and it is shaping up to be the most epic, horrifying, thrilling, emotional and satisfying conclusion to the Terrifier saga. P.S. I will finally reveal Art's origin in this entry."

Sounds a lot like we're in for the grand finale of the slasher series with "Terrifier 4". Back in 2023, Leone stated that he had a clear ending in mind for "Terrifier". However, it remains to be seen whether this really is the last film. After all, the series continues to enjoy great popularity and part 4 is likely to be another box office hit.

Not much is currently known about the cast. However, we can assume that David Howard Thornton will once again take on the role of the bloodthirsty clown. Lauren LaVera is also likely to be back as Sienna. A theatrical release is still pending.

Movie tips with horror clowns

Clowns are actually cheerful entertainers - but in the horror genre they often turn into true nightmares. For decades, horror clowns have fascinated audiences with their gruesome mixture of childlike joy and merciless brutality. If you are looking for the best horror films with clowns, here is a selection of the scariest works that will give you sleepless nights.

It (1990 & 2017)

No movie has shaped the image of the horror clown like Stephen King's "It". The 1990 version with Tim Curry as the demonic clown Pennywise was many people's first encounter with the nightmare clown. In 2017 came the remake with Bill Skarsgård, who portrayed Pennywise in an even more menacing way. "It" tells the story of a group of children who must confront an ancient creature that disguises itself as a clown and preys on their deepest fears.

Clown (2014)

This underrated horror film "Clown" brings a creative twist to the genre: a father dons an old clown costume for his son's birthday – but it turns out to be cursed. He gradually transforms into a demonic creature driven by an insatiable hunger for human flesh. The film impresses with its oppressive atmosphere and a creeping horror that gets under your skin.

Terrifier (2016) & Terrifier 2 (2022)

If you like extremely brutal horror, you can't miss "Terrifier". Art the Clown, played by David Howard Thornton, is a wordless but all the more terrifying character who takes sadistic pleasure in hunting down his victims. The film relies on extreme violence and disturbing splatter effects. "Terrifier 2" goes one better and offers a seemingly endless chain of bloody moments – not for the faint-hearted!

Space Invaders (1988)

For fans of horror with a pinch of humor, "Space Invaders" is a real insider tip. Here the clowns come from outer space and terrorize a small town. They use absurd weapons such as cotton candy cocoon machines to hunt down their victims. Despite its trashy look, the film is a cult classic that still delights fans today.

Stitches (2012)

Black humor and bloody horror meet in "Stitches". A clown dies tragically during a children's birthday party and returns years later as a vengeful ghost. The film combines macabre humor with brutal kills, making it an entertaining alternative to more serious horror clown films.

The Jack in the Box (2019)

Here, supernatural horror meets the clown theme: a mysterious toy vending machine with a clown inside provides deadly terror. "The Jack in the Box" offers thrilling horror elements and is a good choice for anyone who likes supernatural horror with creepy clowns.
