New footage was revealed for "Squid Game", "Wednesday", "One Piece" and other projects
A major live event took place at the weekend with Netflix Tudum 2025. A number of trailers for the streaming service's upcoming highlights were presented. Release dates and casting news for highly anticipated films and series were also announced. Here you can get a comprehensive overview of the most important announcements, trailers and news from the event.
Stranger Things Season 5
Many fans were probably hoping for a trailer for the fifth and final season of the mega-hit "Stranger Things" – and they were not left disappointed. The trailer partly contains a compilation from the old seasons, which is likely to awaken nostalgic feelings in some viewers. But of course there was also a first preview of the fifth season.

Netflix also provided further information about the plot. After a time jump, the story starts in Hawkins in the fall of 1987. The antagonist Vecna has disappeared and our group of heroes must now try to find him. However, this task is made more difficult as Hawkins is in quarantine. In addition, the government is also hunting Eleven, who therefore has to flee.
Of course, all "Stranger Things" stars like Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhart and others are back again. New to the cast this time is "Terminator" star Linda Hamilton.
We also finally know when we can expect the grand finale. Netflix is releasing the new season in three parts this time. The first part will premiere on November 26, 2025, followed by Part 2 on Christmas and the finale on New Year's Eve. There will be eight episodes in total.

Squid Game Season 3
There was also a new trailer for another Netflix hit that will likewise come to an end this year. We are talking about "Squid Game". The third season of the Korean series will be available on the streaming service from June 27, 2025.
Wednesday Season 2
New footage was also unveiled for "Wednesday". A first trailer was released some time ago, and now the first six minutes of the upcoming second season have been published. It has also been officially confirmed that pop star Lady Gaga will guest star as a Nevermore teacher. The new "Wednesday" season will be split into two parts: Part 1 will premiere on August 6, 2025, with the remaining episodes following on September 3.

Knives Out 3
There was a first teaser for the third part of the "Knives Out" series called "Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery". Director Rian Johnson was able to recruit some well-known names for his new film once again: among others, "James Bond" actor Daniel Craig, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner and Kerry Washington are back on board. The movie will hit Netflix on December 12, 2025.

The Rip
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon also presented their new film project "The Rip". It is about a team of Miami police officers who discover millions in cash in an abandoned hideout. In addition to Affleck and Damon, the cast also includes "The Walking Dead" star Steven Yeun, Kyle Chandler and "Supergirl" actress Sasha Calle. "The Rip" will be released on the streaming service on January 16, 2026.
One Piece Season 2
"One Piece" fans finally got their first glimpse of the character Tony Tony Chopper. However, the second season of the Netflix adaptation won't be released until 2026.

Happy Gilmore 2
There was also a trailer for "Happy Gilmore 2" with Adam Sandler, Margaret Qualley and Ben Stiller. This belated sequel will be released on July 25, 2025.

Frankenstein
Later this year, we can also look forward to a new "Frankenstein" interpretation by director Guillermo del Toro. In this film, Dr. Victor Frankenstein will be played by Oscaar Isaac. The cast also includes "Euphoria" star Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth and "Inglourious Basterds" actor Christoph Waltz. Although we are already aware that the film will be released in November 2025, an exact date is not yet known.
