The Marvel Cinematic Universe is getting bigger and bigger: besides all the movies, there are also plenty of series that bring us more stories about Marvel's superheroes. The quality has not always convinced fans - but those responsible have promised to do better. In this article, we provide you with an overview of all the MCU series that are currently being planned!

Agatha All Along

In 2024, the "WandaVision" spin-off "Agatha All Along" is still to come. It revolves around Kathryn Hahn's character, the witch Agatha Harkness. Story details are scarce: according to the official description, the title character manages to free herself from the spell she was trapped in at the beginning of the story, only to lose all her powers in the process. She therefore sets off on a journey to regain them.

At least at the end of "WandaVision", Agatha was a clear villain: we are therefore curious to see what transformation she will undergo in the new series so that we as viewers will be able to relate to her. After all, it did work with "Loki" at some point.

It seems rather unlikely that we will see Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch once again - particularly after the events of "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness". Alongside Kathryn Hahn, Emma Caulfield is also back as Sarah Proctor. But we are especially looking forward to Aubrey Plaza, who fans of "Parks and Recreation" should be particularly familiar with.

The first trailer has already led to some discussion - above all the horror elements shown in the trailer were met with very positive comments from many viewers. The spin-off "Agatha All Along" will premiere with 2 episodes on September 18, 2024 on Disney+. This will be followed by a new episode each week until November 6.

Daredevil: Born Again

We are eagerly awaiting the series "Daredevil: Born Again". In it, Charlie Cox reprises his role as Matt Murdock aka Daredevil. It was a long road to get there, as Kevin Feige didn't actually intend to integrate the character into the MCU to begin with. After mounting criticism of the MCU's development, they eventually pulled the ripcord in the midst of production: Episodes that had already been filmed were ditched and the creative team behind the series was changed.

Apparently, the fans' complaints have been acknowledged: more demand for quality and, above all, more orientation towards the popular and brutal Netflix original, including the well-known actors: in addition to leading actor Charlie Cox, Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin, Jon Bernthal as Punisher, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page and Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson are now back.

The plot will be partly based on the "Born Again" series by Frank Miller. The arc of "Devil's Reign" by Zdarsky and Checchetto will also play an important role.

The series was originally due to debut on Disney+ at the end of 2024, but it is now expected to be released in March 2025.

Ironheart

Phase 5 of the MCU concludes with the "Ironheart" series. The superheroine, played by Dominique Thorne, already had a leading role in "Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever". Her opponent will be the villain "The Hood", played by Anthony Ramos. The Hood adds a mystical aspect to the series, as he is able to use magic obtained from the boots and cloak of Dormammu. We already know this evil deity from "Dr. Strange". In the comics, The Hood usually fights against the Avengers - so perhaps this is the perfect time to move on to the Young Avengers.

Since the series' announcement, Marvel has been very quiet on the subject of "Ironheart". Understandably so, as hardly any other character is more representative of everything that fans have criticized about the MCU in recent years: A young, black woman is to replace the absolute viewer favorite Robert Downey Junior as Iron Man - a perfect opportunity for all those who accuse Disney of having political motives.

The venture is - to put it mildly - overly brave. What's more, Ironheart didn't really win over many moviegoers in its theatrical debut, not to mention the fact that Tom Holland's Peter Parker has already successfully established a kind of successor to Tony Stark.

In fact, the series has been considered finished for some time, but has been postponed time and again. According to producer Ryan Coogler, it is currently in post-production. As things stand, "Ironheart" will premiere sometime in 2025 on Disney+ - some rumors are suggesting September 3. So far, however, the chances of it being successful are extremely low.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man

The Disney+ series "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man", first known as "Spider-Man: Freshman Year" referring to Peter Parker's high school days, is due to be released soon. Marvel famously skipped his origin story and introduced him directly as a superhero in "Captain America: Civil War". His beginnings are now being shown in an animated series. Will this be the first time we see Uncle Ben in the MCU? Will we find out how Ned and Peter first met? And last but not least, will we witness the spider bite and Peter's first steps as Spider-Man?

Unfortunately, Tom Holland himself will not be involved in the animated series. However, fans can still look forward to a reunion with Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock. "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" will be released on November 2, 2024.

Marvel Zombies

One series that many of you may not have on your radar yet is "Marvel Zombies". It marks the return of some of the zombie Avengers we were already introduced to in "What...If?". It will consist of 4 episodes and is part of the new "Marvel Animated Multiverse". The people in charge have already confirmed that it will be extremely bloody. However, it is not known when the animated series will debut on Disney+ and what it will be about in detail. As the voice recordings were already completed in 2023, a release in 2024 may still be a possibility.

Eyes of Wakanda

There are also a lot of questions surrounding the Disney+ series "Eyes of Wakanda", which will center around the country of the same name. So far, only two facts are known: Firstly, as with "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man", it is to be an animated series. Secondly, the focus will not be on the previous protagonists, but on hitherto unknown brave warriors who search for stolen Vibranium artifacts throughout the world.

Producer Brad Winderbaum further revealed that the series will deal with the history of Wakanda and the MCU in different time periods. There is no exact release date yet, but the series will allegedly be released in 2024.

Wonder Man

With "Wonder Man", another Marvel series awaits us. The superhero has its beginnings in the 1964 comics, where Simon Williams, Wonder Man's real name, is charged with ionic energy. He is then practically immortal and has superhuman powers and reflexes. He is the son of a rich industrialist who goes bankrupt due to Stark Enterprise. Williams then attempts to take revenge on Tony Stark and initially becomes a villain.

During the day, Simon Williams is a successful actor and stuntman. But when night falls, he slips into his role as Wonder Man and uses his unique superpowers to save the world.

Wonder Man will be played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who we already know as the villain from the DC movies about Aquaman. Also involved is Ben Kingsley, who after "Iron Man 3" and "Shang-Chi" will once again take on the role of Trevor Slattery. Scarlet Witch also plays a major role in the comic original - so there is a good chance that we will also get to see Elizabeth Olsen.

The choice of Andrew Guest as screenwriter hints at a humorous tone for the series, as he is known for his work on "Brooklyn Nine-Nine". A release date for "Wonder Man" is not yet known.

Nova

With "Nova", Marvel is planning a spin-off series for "Guardians of the Galaxy". It is set after part 3 and revolves around Richard Rider, played by Tanner Gillman. He is recruited for the newly founded Nova Corps and from then on fights intergalactic criminals while at the same time having to deal with personal issues on Earth. To make matters worse, there also seems to be a conspiracy at Nova Corps.

In addition to stars such as John C. Reilly and Glenn Close, popular characters such as Rocket, Groot, Kraglin, Cosmo and Adam Warlock are also set to make guest appearances. The live-action project has been in development since 2022. Originally intended to be a movie, it is now planned as a miniseries.

A release date is currently unknown. Producer Brad Winderbaum explained in May 2024 that not every developed project would be produced, especially after Disney had put the brakes on the amount of MCU productions. However, "Nova" in particular has an extremely positive prospect for the future. We are very excited!

Vision Quest

Only recently, it was announced that superhero Vision would also be getting his own series. Set after the events of "WandaVision", it will follow the long-dead character on his further journey. Paul Bettany will of course once again take on the role of Wanda's android lover.

"WandaVision" and "Agatha All Along" creator Jac Schaeffer was originally supposed to be the showrunner again. However, Terry Matalas, who was formerly in charge of "Star Trek: Picard" and made a big impression on the Marvel management team with his performance there, has since taken over the project. "Vision Quest" is scheduled for release sometime in 2026.
