It's that time of year again: San Diego Comic-Con 2026 is just around the corner! For many years, the event has been one of the world's best-known and largest pop culture conventions. Every year, thousands of fans, artists, actors, and industry representatives gather in San Diego to celebrate the latest news from the world of comics, movies, TV shows, video games, and cosplay. Since its founding in 1970, the convention has evolved from a small comic book fair into a global media event. Studios unveil exclusive trailers, stars sign autographs, and upcoming projects are showcased to eager audiences.

This year will be no different. From July 23 to 26, you can look forward to plenty of news from the world of pop culture. Numerous panels on upcoming blockbuster movies and TV series have been announced. Here's a concise overview of what to expect this year. However, not all SDCC 2026 panels have been announced yet. This article will therefore be updated regularly over the next weeks.

Day 1 (July 23)

Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender

We're kicking things off on the very first day with "Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender." The film is set after the cult series "Avatar: The Last Airbender." It once again centers on familiar characters like Aang, Katara, Sokka, Zuko, and Toph.

Here's what it's about: Avatar Aang, the world's last Airbender, learns of an ancient power that could save his culture from extinction. With the help of his friends, he embarks on a global quest to find it before it falls into the wrong hands and upends the peace they sacrificed everything to achieve.

At the panel on July 23, you can expect new insights. The voice actors, among others, will be in attendance. A first trailer has already been released; we might see a second one here. "Avatar: The Last Airbender" was originally supposed to be released in theaters—but that didn't happen. Instead, the production moved to Paramount+, where the film will premiere just two days after the panel (July 25).

Stuart Fails to Save the Universe

Naturally, one particular franchise couldn't miss Comic-Con. One of the world's biggest pop culture conventions centered around classic "nerd culture" is the perfect stage for "The Big Bang Theory." The cult series is getting a spin-off soon: "Stuart Fails to Save the Universe" centers on Stuart (Kevin Sussman), a character familiar from the original series. But other familiar faces from "The Big Bang Theory" will also make an appearance. The panel takes place on Thursday, July 23. On the same day, the series will premiere on HBO Max. It'll be interesting to see if any surprises are announced during the panel.
