"Hostel" Series with Paul Giamatti
The series represents a new start to the franchise
There's definitely no vacation mood here: Eli Roth will be responsible for a remake of the slasher "Hostel" in the form of a series. In the leading role: "The Holdovers" actor Paul Giamatti.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the planned "Hostel" series, which is currently in development, is described as a "modern adaptation" and "elevated thriller", which is also being considered as a "reinvention" of the franchise. Eli Roth, Chris Briggs and Mike Fleiss, the creative minds behind the original films, are returning for the project. Roth will also write the screenplay and direct.
Paul Giamatti, known from "The Truman Show" or "12 Years a Slave", is set to play a key character based on initial information. Early rumors point to the killer who made life a living hell for two backpackers in the film of the same name. This role would be a stark contrast – after all, Giamatti was last seen in the Oscar-nominated comedy "The Holdovers" as a quirky teacher. It is not yet known when and where the series will be released. First, however, we can look forward to the film adaptation of "Borderlands" – also by Eli Roth.
