Keanu Reeves to Star in New Sci-Fi Film by Deadpool Director
In "Shiver", Reeves must escape from a deadly time loop!
Keanu Reeves is returning to the sci-fi genre! According to industry magazine The Hollywood Reporter, the "John Wick" star is teaming up with "Deadpool" creator Tim Miller.
The film is called "Shiver" and is said to be reminiscent of the sci-fi action highlight "Edge of Tomorrow" with Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. Reeves plays an "ne'er-do-well smuggler" who has to complete a job in the Caribbean. However, he quickly gets caught up in a maelstrom of "bodies, hostile mercenaries and thirsty sharks". But that's not all: at the same time, the protagonist finds himself in a deadly time loop!
This thoroughly wild mix comes from the production company of "Kingsman" director Matthew Vaughn. They are currently in final negotiations with Warner Bros.
The sci-fi genre is of course familiar territory for Keanu Reeves: the actor celebrated his breakthrough as a Hollywood superstar with the "The Matrix" films. In recent years, the fan favorite has been seen above all in his iconic role as "John Wick". You can currently see Reeves in the action comedy "Good Fortune" in cinemas.
In addition to "Deadpool", Tim Miller also directed the sixth "Terminator" film "Dark Fate", which was disappointing for many fans. He is also the creator of the popular Netflix series "Love, Death & Robots". When we can expect "Shiver" is still unknown at this early stage.

Keanu Reeves: The road to superstardom
Few actors have carved out such an unmistakable place for themselves in Hollywood as Keanu Reeves. The Canadian actor has been working in the film business since the 1980s – and has gathered a huge fan base behind him over time. Over the course of his career, Reeves has worked in almost every genre – from sci-fi and action to independent dramas.
The breakthrough: Bill & Ted and the start of a career
Keanu Reeves first came to wider attention in 1989 with the time-travel comedy "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure". In the role of the naively likeable Ted Theodore Logan, he captured the hearts of an entire generation. The film was a surprise success and spawned two sequels – most recently "Bill & Ted: Face the Music", in which Reeves slipped back into his cult role after more than 30 years.
Keanu Reeves as an action star: Point Break and Speed
The big turning point came in the 90s: "Point Break" laid the foundation for his career in the action genre. In Kathryn Bigelow's cult film, he plays the young FBI agent Johnny Utah, who is tasked with infiltrating a group of bank robbers – led by the charismatic surfer Bodhi, played by Patrick Swayze. "Point Break" became a classic of the 90s and is still considered one of the formative films that paved Keanu Reeves' way to becoming an action hero.
"Speed" with Sandra Bullock made Keanu Reeves an international star overnight. As police officer Jack Traven, who has to defuse a bomb on a bus, he proved that he was more than just the "cool guy next door": He could carry an action movie.

The Matrix: The first role of his life
In 1999 came the film that finally made Keanu Reeves a legend: "The Matrix". As hacker Neo, he is drawn into a dystopian world full of machines, simulations and philosophical questions. The groundbreaking visual effects, above all the "bullet time" sequences, set new standards for action cinema. Reeves also played Neo in the three sequels "The Matrix Reloaded", "The Matrix Revolutions" and "The Matrix Resurrections". Although the later parts did not reach the cult status of the original, the series remains one of the greatest milestones in science fiction cinema to this day.
The rebirth of Keanu Reeves: John Wick
After a few quieter years, Keanu Reeves celebrated a spectacular comeback in 2014 with "John Wick". As a former hitman who goes on a quest for revenge after the death of his dog, Reeves established an iconic action hero – elegant, taciturn and mercilessly precise. The series – now consisting of four films – has become a worldwide phenomenon. The choreography, visual style and Reeves' dedication to his stunts made the series one of the most modern action franchises. And there is still no end in sight: After Reeves was last seen in the spin-off "From the World of John Wick: Ballerina", "John Wick 5" awaits us. You can find all the details in our film preview!

Versatile genres
In addition to his great successes, Keanu Reeves has shown time and again that he cannot be restricted to one genre. He has also starred in independent productions and supernatural movies such as "The Devil's Advocate" with Al Pacino or "Constantine". A sequel to "Constantine" is currently in development. You can find out the current status here.
The person behind the star

He is known for paying his crew members generously, using public transportation and leading a modest life. This authenticity makes him not only a celebrated actor, but also one of the most popular personalities in the industry.
