X-Men Rumor: Jeremy Allan White Reportedly in Talks to Play Wolverine
The movie will be released in theaters on May 5, 2028
Exciting rumors about the "X-Men" reboot. As Hollywood insider Jeff Sneider revealed on his blog, Marvel is apparently in talks about the role of Wolverine. And none other than "The Bear" star Jeremy Allan White is among the favorites.
According to the report, the actor could initially take on a relatively small role as Wolverine in the planned "X-Men" reboot. Other insiders, however, claim that White could make his first appearance as early as "Avengers: Secret Wars". It remains to be seen whether there's any truth to this information.
For Marvel Studios, Jeremy Allen White would definitely be an interesting choice. The actor has earned an excellent reputation as a character actor through projects such as "The Bear", "The Iron Claw", and most recently, "Springsteen". He could also put his own spin on Wolverine, a character still closely associated with Hugh Jackman. Standing about 1.70 meters tall, he is much more in line with the comic book depictions, in which Wolverine is portrayed as relatively short. However, it remains to be seen whether White will actually succeed Jackman. We'll keep you posted.
The X-Men ensemble is increasingly taking shape
Just recently, there was a rumor about the casting of another original "X-Men" member. According to Knight Edge Media, "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" actor Peter Claffey is reportedly set to play the superhero Beast, a mutant known for his superhuman physical strength and agility, as well as his brilliant mind. However, there has been no official confirmation yet. Additionally, according to Deadline, "Karate Kid: Legends" actor Ben Wang is in talks to play Iceman.
Other stars of the new "X-Men" movie from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, on the other hand, have been officially confirmed for some time now. Among them is Kit Connor, known for his lead role in the coming-of-age series "Heartstopper", who will play Cyclops – the X-Men leader with the deadly eyes – in the superhero film. The X-Men founder and powerful telepath Charles Xavier, aka Professor X, will be portrayed by "Wolf Man" actor Christopher Abbott. We'll also see Sadie Sink reprise her role as Jean Grey.
The villain of the new "X-Men" movie has also been revealed: "Star Wars" actor Adam Driver will take on the role of the antagonist Mr. Sinister. "Ready or Not" star Samara Weaving will play Emma Frost, aka the White Queen, who was initially an adversary of the X-Men but later switched sides. The character possesses telepathic powers and can transform her body into an organic diamond form. Inde Navarette, who caused a sensation with the horror hit "Obsession", will play Rogue, who can absorb the energy of others through touch.
Less well-known internationally is likely Broadway actress Maya Boyd, who will be seen as Storm, aka Ororo Munroe. The mutant has the ability to control the weather and use it to her advantage in battle against her opponents. It was also recently reported that Asa Germann is reportedly set to play the role of "X-Men" member Angel. The mutant has angel-like wings, which were later replaced by metallic wings in subsequent storylines.
When does X-Men hit theaters?
It remains to be seen what the movie will be about. One thing is certain: Jake Schreier is directing, having previously gained experience in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with "Thunderbolts". Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo are on board as screenwriters; like Schreier, they were also involved in "Thunderbolts". The release date has also been set: "X-Men" hits theaters on May 5, 2028.
