In "Dune: Part Three," nearly two decades have passed since Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) seized power. He has since become a ruthless emperor haunted by visions of doom and drawn ever deeper into a far-reaching conspiracy in which Chani (Zendaya) apparently plays a special role. Dune Messiah: A dark turn
The 1969 novel "Dune Messiah" is said to have served as a key source of inspiration for the third "Dune" film. In this volume of Frank Herbert's six-part "Dune" saga, 12 years have passed since Paul seized power. His power, however, is not limited to the throne of Arrakis alone, but extends throughout the entire universe. This has resulted in the deaths of countless people. Just how dark Paul Atreides' transformation has become is also hinted at by a new poster, which was released shortly before the latest trailer and makes the protagonist look rather eerie:

To what extent "Dune 3" follows the plot of the novel "Dune Messiah" in detail – and to what extent the film deviates from it – will soon be revealed on the big screen. "Dune 3" is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026. As with the first two films, Denis Villeneuve is once again directing. Brian K. Vaughan also contributed to the screenplay this time. The author is best known for acclaimed comic book series such as "Y: The Last Man," "Runaways," "Saga," and "Paper Girls." As a screenwriter, he has worked on the mystery series "Lost," among other projects.
The cast of "Dune 3" once again features a lineup of big-name stars. Alongside Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides and Zendaya as Chani, the cast includes Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, Anya Taylor-Joy as Alia Atreides, Florence Pugh as Irulan, Robert Pattinson as Scytale, Jason Momoa as Hayt, and Javier Bardem as Stilgar.
