One of the most successful Netflix blockbusters of all time is getting a sequel! As confirmed by Deadline magazine, "War Machine 2", starring Alan Ritchson, is officially in the works. Behind the scenes, Netflix is also relying on a proven team. The screenplay for Part 2 is being written by James Beaufort, who also penned the original. He is being supported by Patrick Hughes, who will return to the director's chair for "War Machine 2".

Earlier this year, Hughes revealed in an interview with Screen Rant that he already has concepts for eight more sequels in mind. Quote:

"It's impossible not to, as a writer, to think about. I fell in love with the character of 81, and the universe of sort of everything he's going through. So look, if that call comes in, then yes, I'm ready to pull the trigger."

Fans can also look forward to seeing Alan Ritchson again. The actor, who is best known for the hit series "Reacher", will reprise his role as the uncompromising Army Ranger in the second installment.

"War Machine" was a massive hit for Netflix. With currently around 139 million views, the film is among the most-watched movies in the streaming service's history and currently holds the tenth spot on the rankings. A release date for Part 2 has not yet been set.
