Only five years ago Disney released a Cinderella live-action film, now a new title called Sneakerella will be released. A remake of the latter, as the name suggests, is not planned. Instead, they will work on a modern adaptation for the present. The story will revolve around the current hype of streetwear and sneakers, which have recently become much desired collector's items. The film will not be shown in the cinema, however, as Disney will only release Sneakerella on its own streaming service Disney+. Currently the production progress is still in the early stages, so a release date is not yet foreseeable. On the page TheDisInsider there is also the information that Tamara Chestna, newcomer Mindy Stern and George O. Gore II are responsible for the script.
To what extent Disney will be successful with his idea remains to be seen.
