Will he now be given a license to kill? After "No Time to Die" marked the end of Daniel Craig as James Bond, speculation surrounding a potential successor continued at full speed. Now it appears that a suitable candidate for the role of the secret agent may have been found.

The man in question is Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who has been consistently named as one of the big favorites in recent months. A number of sources told The Sun that the actor has already been approached with an offer, which he merely has to accept.

One source praises Taylor-Johnson as "incredibly talented" and describes him as "the perfect person to play Bond". There is even speculation that an official announcement will be made in the coming days, so that nothing stands in the way of a swift production of the new adventure. The company EON Productions, which is in charge of producing the "James Bond" films, is said to have already begun initial preparations for a new 007 film. A screenplay is also in the works.

Taylor-Johnson, who last impressed in David Leitch's action hit "Bullet Train", recently commented on the rumors, describing them as "charming and wonderful".

Whether or not he will actually be cast in the end remains to be seen. The BBC and CNN have already denied the rumors - stating that there is no truth to it.

So, we won't have any certainty until either the makers or Aaron Taylor-Johnson himself make a statement. We'll keep you up to date!
