From the Parisian banlieues to Hollywood's high society: "Athena" director Romain Gavras is back with his latest thriller "Sacrifice" and has already been able to recruit a number of popular actors for the project.

According to Deadline, the cast includes "Captain America" star Chris Evans, Salma Hayek, Oscar winner Brendan Fraser and Anya Taylor-Joy, who we will soon be starring in the action-packed "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga". The stars were apparently so overwhelmed by the quality of the script that they accepted the offer within a few days.

"Sacrifice" takes us into the world of the rich and famous, who are threatened by a group of violent radicals during a charity gala. Their aim is to fulfill a mystical prophecy for which three people must be sacrificed that evening.

The idea for the film came to Gavras when he was out and about at similar events and wished that something would go terribly wrong. He was also inspired by some elements from Greek mythology. His new film is set to be a kind of mixture of satire and mythology, with a similar harshness and anarchy as was the case with "Athena". It is also possible that we can expect another planned sequence or two.

Filming is scheduled for September this year.
