Sandra Hüller is reportedly set to join the cast of "Avengers: Doomsday." Her role has been kept under wraps so far. However, it is speculated that it could be a small but important part. Rumors suggest she might play the mother of the villain Doctor Doom. There is also speculation that she could be one of the Latverian Witches, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Marvel has not yet commented on Hüller's casting.

As far as her international career is concerned, things are going brilliantly for Hüller. The German actress has drawn attention internationally with outstanding performances. About three years ago, she caused a stir in Jonathan Glazer's "The Zone of Interest" and Justine Triet's "Anatomy of a Fall." She is also establishing herself as a major force in Hollywood. Most recently, she enjoyed success in the sci-fi blockbuster "Project Hail Mary" alongside Hollywood star Ryan Gosling. She is currently appearing in theaters in "Digger" alongside Tom Cruise. Unlike "Project Hail Mary," "Digger" has turned out to be a box office flop. Nevertheless, the film remains an extremely prestigious project.

Work and Structure: New film with Sandra Hüller

But she remains committed to German cinema as well. It was recently announced that she will take on the lead role in the film adaptation of "Arbeit und Struktur" ("Work and Structure"). The film is based on the autobiographical book by German author Wolfgang Herrndorf, who passed away in 2013. Maria Schrader is directing and co-writing the screenplay with Jan Schomburg. Hüller's role has already been announced: she will play Wolfgang Herrndorf.

The book on which the upcoming film adaptation is based chronicles the final years of Herrndorf's life after he was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2010. A press release described the specific focus of the film adaptation of "Arbeit und Struktur" as follows:

"'Arbeit und Struktur' is a film about life and death, told by someone who knows exactly how little time he has left: Amid hospital stays, manic creative phases, and tender moments with friends and his partner Carola, a portrait emerges of a man who is relentlessly marching toward certain death and yet writes that the time following his diagnosis was the best three years of his life. In addition to working on three different novels, he chronicles the shifts between panic and serenity, happiness and insomnia, euphoria and nihilism. In search of what truly matters, he turns his gaze radically inward – and from there, back out into the world."

Impressive Avengers cast

In "Avengers: Doomsday," Hüller will star alongside numerous stars. The cast of the Marvel blockbuster includes Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Kelsey Grammer, Joseph Quinn, David Harbour, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Channing Tatum, Chris Evans, and Robert Downey Jr.

Joe and Anthony Russo, who also directed "Avengers: Endgame," among other films, are returning to direct. The screenplay is by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely. "Avengers: Doomsday" hits theaters on December 18, 2026.
