Werewolf Series Starring Taylor Lautner in Development at Amazon
The Twilight actor is going werewolf hunting in the new series
Taylor Lautner and werewolves: yes, those are the buzzwords for Amazon's new series project. This time, however, the "Twilight" star seems to have switched sides. Because in "Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter" he will be doing just that: Hunting werewolves.
The title already shows that the topic is not being taken one hundred percent seriously and that the focus is instead on the meta-level of the whole thing. After all, Lautner is known for his role as Jacob in the "Twilight" saga. The actor appeared as a shape-shifter and werewolf in all five films in the series.
The Plot of "Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter"
The industry magazine Variety first reported on the project and has already been able to find out official details about the plot.
After the end of filming for the "Twilight" movies, the fictional version of Taylor Lautner disappears from the screen. But the actor is not just taking a break from the acting business, as had been assumed. Instead, he is drawn into the secret world of werewolf hunters, who benefit from his knowledge of the creatures. Lautner now has to master his double life as an actor by day and werewolf hunter by night. The irony is that he has to fight the creatures that made him famous in the movie world.
The parallels to reality cannot be denied. The real Taylor Lautner actually mostly disappeared from the big screen after the "Twilight" movies. His probably most popular appearance was a cameo in the comedy "Grown Ups 2".
"Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter" is being produced by Amazon MGM Studios, with Daisy Gardner taking over as showrunner. She was involved as a writer in several comedy series such as "Modern Family" and "The Goldbergs".
The Most Popular Werewolf Movies
Werewolves are some of the most fascinating creatures in film history, and their portrayal on screen has taken many different forms over the years - from horror to thriller to comedy. They embody the struggle between humanity and savagery, the eternal conflict between control and instinct. Numerous werewolf films have been produced over the years, captivating fans of the supernatural and horror lovers alike. Here are some of the most famous and popular werewolf movies:
An American Werewolf in London
"An American Werewolf in London" by John Landis is considered one of the best werewolf films of all time and is a true classic of the genre. The story follows two American tourists, David and Jack, who are attacked by a werewolf while traveling through the English countryside. David survives, but he begins to transform into a werewolf, leading to a series of terrifying and humorous events. The movie is particularly famous for its special effects, especially the iconic transformation scene. The movie combines horror with black humor and remains a staple in werewolf portrayals.
Teen Wolf
"Teen Wolf" offers a refreshing twist on the traditional werewolf genre and is aimed at a younger audience. Michael J. Fox plays Scott Howard, a high school student who finds out he is a werewolf. The movie is a mix of comedy, fantasy and teen drama, and Fox's charming performance as the lovable werewolf made it a hit. "Teen Wolf" is an 80s classic and was later turned into a TV series that continues the concept but takes it in a darker direction.
Teen Wolf (Series)
The TV series "Teen Wolf" is a modern reinterpretation of the classic werewolf myth and became a huge success, especially among teenagers. In the series, Tyler Posey plays the lead role of Scott McCall, a teenager who is suddenly endowed with supernatural powers after being bitten by a werewolf. The series follows Scott's struggle to control his new abilities while leading a normal life and dealing with the dangers and challenges of the werewolf world. "Teen Wolf" combines drama, action, horror and romance, with themes of friendship, identity and growing up also playing an important role. The series has a loyal fan base, and it is no coincidence that there are six seasons with a total of 100 episodes.
Underworld
"Underworld" is an action horror film featuring werewolves (Lycans) and vampires in a dark, war-torn universe. Kate Beckinsale plays the warrior Selene, who is torn between the opposing factions. The film combined action with supernatural elements and brought the story of the Lycans and vampires into a modern, stylized world. "Underworld" was a huge success and led to several sequels that further developed the story of the bloody clashes between the two races.
