First images of The Old Guard 2 released
Uma Thurman joins the cast
The action film "The Old Guard" starring Charlize Theron was a huge success for the streaming service Netflix. Reason enough for the sequel "The Old Guard 2", for which the first images have now finally been released.
Charlize Theron returns as Andromache of Scythia – aka Andy – the leader of a group of immortal mercenaries who must once again save humanity from a sinister threat. Alongside Theron, Kiki Layne, Matthias Schoenaerts, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Marwan Kenzari and Luca Marinelli are also back.
However, there is one big difference compared to its predecessor: Andy is mortal. Theron revealed to IGN magazine that her character is in a far worse position than before.
"The stakes have never been higher. Andy is mortal now, so there's a very real possibility that she could die during any mission this time around. The last film saw some intense changes in the dynamic of the group: Andy lost her immortality, Nile became immortal, and Booker was exiled. We see that Andy's leadership style has changed. Because she's mortal now, she's dedicating however much time she has left to doing the most good she can."
In addition to the already familiar cast, "Kill Bill" star Uma Thurman also takes on a previously unknown role. Henry Golding is also on board as brand new team member Tuah. The film is directed by Victoria Mahoney, while the screenplay was written by Greg Rucka and Sara L. Walker. "The Old Guard 2" will be released on Netflix on July 2, 2025.
