The cast of the "X-Men" reboot directed by Jake Schreier continues to take shape. At the Disney D23 event, several stars were officially announced to be joining the highly anticipated Marvel film about the titular team of mutants, as multiple media outlets are reporting. The release date was also announced: "X-Men" will hit theaters on May 5, 2028. Arguably the most prominent new addition is Adam Driver. The "Star Wars" actor will portray the villain Mr. Sinister. In the Marvel comics the villain has a particular interest in the X-Men heroes Cyclops and Jean Grey: He is convinced that he can use their DNA to create the ultimate mutant. There was a recent rumor that Driver would play the villain Magneto – but as it turns out, he has been cast as a different antagonist.

Inde Navarette as Rogue

As for Inde Navarette, there had been speculation that she might play Mystique – since she herself had expressed interest in the character. Now we know: She will appear as Rogue in the "X-Men" movie. The mutant, who can absorb the energy of others through touch, is a very popular superheroine and was played by Anna Paquin in previous "X-Men" films. With Navarette, the "X-Men" have landed an actress who is currently all the rage after causing a sensation with her role in the horror hit "Obsession."

Christopher Abbott as Professor X

The role of X-Men founder Charles Xavier, aka Professor X, has now also been cast. Christopher Abbott, known for his role in the horror film "Wolf Man," among others, will portray the powerful telepath. In previous "X-Men" films, the character was played by Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy. Recently, there was a rumor that Patrick Wilson might take on the role. However, in this case as well, the speculation turned out to be false.

Maya Boyd as Storm

Maya Boyd is now officially on board as well. She will portray the superheroine Storm, also known as Ororo Munroe. The mutant, who has the ability to control the weather and use it against her opponents in battle, was played in previous film adaptations first by Halle Berry and later by Alexandra Shipp. For Boyd, the role could mark her international breakthrough. She has previously performed on Broadway and is likely still unknown to the majority of the global audience. An interesting new addition!

Kit Connor as Cyclops and Samara Weaving as Emma Frost

The actors cast as Cyclops and Emma Frost have also been announced. It had previously been reported that Kit Connor was set to play Cyclops, and this has now been officially confirmed. Most people are likely to know Connor as the lead actor in the coming-of-age series "Heartstopper." As Cyclops, aka Scott Summers, he will play one of the most important characters in "X-Men" history – not only because the mutant with the deadly eyes is one of the leaders of the superhero team, but also because he has played a central role in numerous storylines. In previous film adaptations, Cyclops was played by James Marsden and Tye Sheridan.

As for Emma Frost, it was previously reported that Samara Weaving would take on the role – which has now also been officially confirmed. The actress is known, among other things, as the star of the two "Ready or Not" films. Emma Frost, also known as the White Queen, possesses telepathic powers and can transform her body into an organic diamond form. She was initially an antagonist of the X-Men, but later switched sides. In the "X-Men" film "First Class," "Mad Men" actress January Jones played Emma Frost. We can't wait to see the entire cast in action!
