Peter Dinklage Cast for Dexter Sequel Dexter Resurrection
The Game of Thrones actor is likely to become the main villain of the season
Good news for fans of "Game of Thrones" and "Dexter": Peter Dinklage has been cast for the sequel to the serial killer series. This was officially announced by Showtime and Paramount Plus via their social media channels.
This means that "Dexter: Resurrection" has scored another casting coup. After all, "Kill Bill" star Uma Thurman was already announced for the sequel a few weeks ago.
Peter Dinklage in Dexter
Peter Dinklage is to take on the role of Leon Prater in "Dexter: Resurrection". Prater is a billionaire who leaves a positive impression for many on the outside. But dark secrets are hidden behind this facade. He has a close relationship with Uma Thurman's character Charley, who is his head of security and right-hand woman. It is safe to assume that Leon Prater will be the season's big villain.
Dinklage is of course known to most people for his role as Tyrion Lannister in the fantasy series "Game of Thrones". The audience favorite was an important part of the cast for the entire run of eight seasons. The actor also appeared in the "Chronicles of Narnia" films. Most recently, he appeared in "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes", among others.
What else is known?
In addition to Dinklage and Thurman, several other cast members are already known. First and foremost, Michael C. Hall will return as Dexter Morgan. With David Zayas as Angel Batista and James Remar as Harry Morgan, two other actors from the original series are also back on board. As in "Dexter: New Blood", Dexter's son Harrison will be played by Jack Alcott.
Franchise veteran Clyde Phillips will act as showrunner. Phillips was already responsible for the first four seasons of "Dexter", as well as for "Dexter: New Blood" and the prequel series "Dexter: Original Sin".
However, there is no information on the plot as yet. The trailer for "Original Sin" provided a first impression of the direction it will take. "Dexter: Resurrection" is currently being filmed and will be available on Paramount+ with Showtime in summer 2025.

Series recommendations for Dexter fans
Hannibal
For fans of "Dexter" who like psychological thrillers with deep characters, "Hannibal" is a perfect choice. The series revolves around Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a brilliant psychiatrist and serial killer who develops a complex relationship with his colleague, FBI agent Will Graham. Like Dexter, Hannibal lives in a world where he must keep his dark impulses a secret. "Hannibal" offers a profound exploration of the human psyche and is known for its stylish, almost artistic depiction of violence.
Mindhunter
"Mindhunter" is based on the true experiences of FBI agents who developed the first profiles of serial killers in the 1970s. Although the series is not directly a crime thriller in the classic sense, it deals with similar themes to "Dexter", in particular the fascination and dark sides of human behavior. The protagonists question serial killers in order to gain a deeper understanding of their psychology and motivations. Those interested in the moral issues and dark side of Dexter might appreciate the intense psychological examination of the perpetrators in "Mindhunter".

The Sinner
"The Sinner" is an anthology series that tells a new story about crime and the dark secrets of seemingly normal people with each season. The first season is about the young woman Cora Tannetti, who commits a murder for inexplicable reasons. Each season explores the psychological causes of crime and examines what turns people into perpetrators. The dark atmosphere and inexplicable nature of the crimes could captivate "Dexter" fans alike.
Bates Motel
"Bates Motel" is a prequel to Alfred Hitchcock's classic "Psycho" and offers a fascinating insight into the childhood and youth of Norman Bates, the legendary serial killer. The series portrays Norman as a psychologically torn teenager living with his abusive mother. As with "Dexter", there is a strong focus on the development of the perpetrator and the associated moral dilemmas. Fans of "Dexter" who are interested in the origins of serial killers and the psychological factors behind their actions may find "Bates Motel" particularly exciting.
True Detective
