News from the world of Game of Thrones: The spin-off "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" continues to take shape, as a director has been found. The number of episodes has likewise been revealed.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, HBO has managed to secure Owen Harris, who was responsible for several episodes of the Netflix series "Black Mirror". Not only will Harris direct the first three episodes of "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms", he will also be involved in the project as a producer.

A further development concerns the number of episodes of "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms": the first season will come with six episodes, promising a much more compact introduction compared to the first seasons of "Game of Thrones" and "House of the Dragon". This decision seems reasonable - after all, the 160-page original written by George R. R. Martin was also quite short.

In terms of plot, the series takes place before the events of "Game of Thrones" and tells the story of the young and naive hedge knight Duncan, who travels through the country with his squire Egg and experiences adventures. Anyone already familiar with the "Game of Thrones" universe will know that the squire Egg is Aegon Targaryen, fifth of his name. Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell will take on the leading roles. The series is expected to be aired as early as summer 2025.
