Two "NCIS" legends are finally reuniting! Mark Harmon and Michael Weatherly appeared together on screen for thirteen seasons and over 300 (!) episodes of "NCIS." Now, after nearly ten years, Leroy Jethro Gibbs and Anthony "Tony" DiNozzo are set to reunite, with the actors appearing together in an episode of the prequel series "NCIS: Origins"!

The two were last seen together in the Season 13 finale, where DiNozzo left to focus on his family. Weatherly returned to the NCIS universe as early as 2025 and appeared alongside his longtime colleague Cote de Pablo (in her role as Ziva David) in "NCIS: Tony & Ziva." However, the spin-off series was canceled after one season.

When will Gibbs and DiNozzo meet?

The reunion of Gibbs and DiNozzo will take place in the third episode of the third season of "NCIS: Origins," titled "Return of the Mack." Harmon will appear throughout the entire season, as KinoCheck previously reported. The reason: The third season of "Origins" will be told across two different timelines. In the past, Gibbs will continue to be portrayed by Austin Stowell. Meanwhile, the present-day Gibbs, played by Harmon, is expected to be confronted with an old case that brings him back to the NCIS – and reunites him with Tony DiNozzo.

The reunion episode will air on October 20, 2026, on CBS and Paramount+. The reunion between the two was announced in a social media teaser. But be warned: If you haven't seen Episode 500 (Season 23, Episode 13) of the original series yet, there's a small spoiler at the end of the clip regarding DiNozzo's future role in the "NCIS" universe.

Michael Weatherly Returns in NCIS Season 24

For Weatherly, it won't just be a one-time appearance in "Origins." The actor also appears in Season 24 of the original series. It won't just be a guest appearance—DiNozzo will play an important role in Season 24. The new season has just kicked off.

The NCIS Phenomenon

The crime drama "NCIS" has been one of the most successful shows on television for many years. The series follows the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, an agency that investigates crimes involving the US Navy and Marine Corps. Its cases range from murder and espionage to kidnapping and terrorism. Alongside solving crimes, the personal lives and relationships of the investigators play a major role.

The series premiered in 2003 and quickly became an international hit. Over the years, numerous spin-offs have been produced, including "NCIS: Los Angeles", "NCIS: Hawai'i", "NCIS: Sydney" and the aforementioned "NCIS: Tony and Ziva."

Leroy Jethro Gibbs & Anthony DiNozzo

Leroy Jethro Gibbs was one of the defining characters of the original series for many years. As an experienced investigator and team leader, Gibbs is known for his uncompromising approach, strong sense of justice, and unconventional rules. However, beneath his often stern and reserved exterior lies a man who feels deeply responsible for his colleagues. Following his departure from the series in Season 19, his story returned to the spotlight with "NCIS: Origins", which explores the character's early years, with Austin Stowell portraying a younger version of Gibbs.

Anthony "Tony" DiNozzo was a longtime member of Gibbs's NCIS team. The confident, quick-witted investigator often lightened the show's serious atmosphere with movie references and wisecracks. At the same time, he repeatedly proved that beneath his humorous exterior was a talented investigator with a keen understanding of people. The unique dynamic between Tony and Gibbs became one of NCIS's trademarks and made their partnership a fan favorite. It's no wonder, then, that fans are eagerly anticipating their long-awaited reunion.
