Pride and Prejudice: Trailer Released for Netflix Series Adaptation of Jane Austen's Classic
The literary classic is getting another adaptation
Few literary works have become as firmly embedded in the collective consciousness as "Pride and Prejudice". Jane Austen's classic continues to enjoy great popularity—and it's no surprise that the novel has been adapted for the screen numerous times. Later this year, Netflix will release a series adaptation of the story. What can we expect from this new adaptation? After a short teaser was recently released, the first trailer now gives us a better idea. You can watch it here:

Pride and Prejudice
Jane Austen's novel "Pride and Prejudice" was published in 1813 and is now considered one of the best-known classics of English literature. The story centers on Elizabeth Bennet, who, along with her four sisters, lives in an era when marriage for women is closely tied to social status and financial security. When she meets the wealthy and initially aloof Mr. Darcy, misunderstandings, prejudices, and ultimately unexpected feelings develop between the two. The new adaptation aims to retell this well-known story for a new generation in six episodes.
The Cast of Pride and Prejudice
The two main characters, Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy, are portrayed by Emma Corrin and Jack Lowden. Corrin is known, among other things, for her roles in "Lady Chatterley's Lover," the Netflix series "The Crown," and the Marvel blockbuster "Deadpool & Wolverine." Lowden, on the other hand, has appeared in "Mary, Queen of Scots" and the spy series "Slow Horses." He is currently in the spotlight primarily in connection with "James Bond." Lowden is considered one of the favorites to play the new 007.
The cast also includes Olivia Colman ("The Favourite") as Mrs. Bennet and Rufus Sewell ("The Diplomat") as Mr. Bennet. Freya Mavor ("Industry") plays Jane Bennet, Rhea Norwood ("Heartstopper") plays Lydia Bennet, Hopey Parish plays Mary Bennet, and Hollie Avery plays Kitty Bennet. Also part of the ensemble are Jamie Demetriou as Mr. Collins, Daryl McCormack as Mr. Bingley, Louis Partridge as Mr. Wickham, Siena Kelly as Caroline Bingley, and Fiona Shaw as Lady Catherine de Bourgh.
When will the series be released on Netflix?
You won't have to wait much longer—the release of "Pride and Prejudice" is coming at the end of 2026. On December 3, the series adaptation will celebrate its grand premiere on Netflix. In addition to the trailer, you can also watch the first teaser here:

Adaptations of Pride and Prejudice
"Pride and Prejudice" has been adapted for film and television numerous times over the decades. Among the best-known adaptations is the 1995 BBC miniseries starring Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy and Jennifer Ehle as Elizabeth Bennet, which is still considered one of the most popular interpretations of the novel. In addition, numerous other adaptations have been produced, each interpreting the classic in its own way and introducing the love story to a new audience.
Particularly fresh in our memories—and just as popular—is the 2005 film adaptation directed by Joe Wright. The lead roles are played by Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Bennet and Matthew Macfadyen as Mr. Darcy. The film remains extremely popular to this day. It will be interesting to see how the new adaptation differs from Joe Wright's film. Here you can watch the trailer for "Pride and Prejudice" starring Knightley and Macfadyen again for comparison:

A new adaptation of Sense and Sensibility has also been released
However, Jane Austen fans have more to look forward to than just the new "Pride and Prejudice" series. A new adaptation of "Sense and Sensibility" is also currently playing in theaters. The adaptation by director Georgia Oakley has been well-received and is getting mostly positive reviews. You can watch the trailer for "Sense and Sensibility" here:
