Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) continued the success story and spanned from 2016 to 2019. This phase was particularly challenging as it not only built on previous storylines, but also presented many long-standing characters in new contexts. Kevin Feige continued to take the lead as the MCU continued to expand and prepare for an epic confrontation.

Plot summary of Phase 3 of the MCU:

  1. Captain America: Civil War (2016) : Phase 3 began with a bang as the Avengers were split into two camps in Civil War. Steve Rogers and Tony Stark led their teams in a conflict over superhero regulation. The movie introduced new characters such as Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and Spider-Man (Tom Holland).

  2. Doctor Strange (2016) : "Doctor Strange" introduced us to the mystical dimensions of the MCU. The brilliant but selfish surgeon Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) learns the mystical arts and becomes the protector of realities.

  3. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) : The Guardians returned, and Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) learned more about his origins. The film emphasized family relationships and introduced the lovable character Mantis (Pom Klementieff).

  9. Captain Marvel (2019) : "Captain Marvel" introduced Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) , a powerful heroine caught up in the cosmic conflict against the Skrulls.

  10. Avengers: Endgame (2019) : Phase 3 culminated in "Endgame," as the remaining Avengers hatched a desperate plan to revive the victims of Thanos' Snap. The movie marked the end for some long-standing characters and the beginning of new stories.

Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe was an emotional and action-packed journey that elevated the MCU to unprecedented heights. With new heroes, dark twists and spectacular battles, the foundation was laid for the future of the MCU.
