Avatar: Seven Heavens: Seasons 3 and 4 Already Confirmed
In addition, another "Avatar" series is in the works
The new Avatar's journey is far from over. Just in time for the premiere of "Avatar: Seven Heavens" on Paramount+, "Avatar" creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko confirmed at this year's New York Comic-Con that there will definitely be a third and fourth season.
This confirms early on that the story of the young Earthbender Pavi will continue for the long term. "Avatar: Seven Heavens" takes place many years after the events of "The Legend of Korra". The world as we know it has changed drastically in the meantime: A massive catastrophe has destroyed large parts of civilization, leaving only a few safe havens.
In the midst of this dangerous world lives Pavi, a young earthbender whose life takes an unexpected turn. She learns that she is the next incarnation of the Avatar after Korra. However, the Avatar's reputation has changed fundamentally over the years. Many people no longer see the Avatar as a saving force, but rather as a potential threat. Nish, Pavi's long-lost twin sister, plays a central role in this. Together, the two try to uncover the secrets of their past while protecting humanity's remaining safe havens from new dangers.
It is not yet clear when Seasons 3 and 4 will be released. However, fans can already look forward to Pavi's adventures continuing across multiple seasons.

Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos Also Expands the Universe
In addition to "Avatar: Seven Heavens", another project from the popular fantasy universe is in the works: "Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos". According to Deadline, this time the focus is on the young and rebellious Avatar Kuruk, who wants to master the four elements on extensive journeys across the world.
Along the way, Kuruk faces more than just numerous adventures. His hot-tempered teacher, rough-and-tumble pirates, and all manner of unpredictable spirits ensure that his journey is anything but straightforward. Nevertheless, the young Avatar tries to help people – albeit in his own unique way. "Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos" is being produced by Avatar Studios and Nickelodeon Animation Studios. Bryan Konietzko, who created the "Avatar" universe together with Michael Dante DiMartino, is serving as showrunner for the new series. A premiere date has not yet been announced.
From Aang to Korra: An Overview of the Avatar Series to Date
With "Avatar: The Last Airbender", Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko created one of the most famous Western animated franchises of the past decades. The world of the Four Nations, where select individuals can master fire, water, earth, or air, has captivated audiences across multiple generations. Before the universe is expanded with new stories, it's worth taking a look back at the two previous series centered on Aang and Korra.
Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Beginning of a Great Journey
It all began in 2005 with "Avatar: The Last Airbender". The story centers on twelve-year-old airbender Aang, who is also the Avatar. As such, he is the only one capable of mastering all four elements. His mission is to maintain balance among the nations.
The problem: Aang disappeared for 100 years and was frozen inside an iceberg during that time. During his absence, the Fire Nation started a war and brought large parts of the world under its control. When siblings Katara and Sokka finally find the young Avatar, a long journey begins. Aang must learn the elements he lacks and prepare for the decisive confrontation with Fire Lord Ozai.
The series ran for three seasons with a total of 61 episodes and ended in 2008. In addition to humor and spectacular bending duels, "Avatar" stood out above all for its character development and increasingly serious themes. Characters like Zuko, Toph, Iroh, Katara, and Sokka became just as important to the show's success as Aang himself.
The Legend of Korra: A New Generation of Avatars
In 2012, "The Legend of Korra" followed as the direct sequel series. The story takes place about 70 years after Aang's story and centers on his next incarnation. Korra comes from the Southern Water Tribe and differs significantly in character from her predecessor. While Aang initially preferred to shy away from his responsibilities, Korra is self-assured, impulsive, and eager to prove her abilities.
The world has changed as well. Technological progress shapes daily life, while Republic City has become a melting pot of diverse cultures. Over the course of the series, Korra faces various adversaries, including Amon, Unalaq, Zaheer, and Kuvira. Each season tells a largely self-contained story.
"The Legend of Korra" spans four seasons and a total of 52 episodes. Korra's story finally came to a close in 2014. Together, both series continue to form the foundation of the ever-expanding "Avatar" universe.
The Netflix live-action series
In 2024, Aang's story returned once again in a completely new form. Netflix adapted "Avatar: The Last Airbender" into a lavishly produced live-action series, once again telling the story of the young airbender and his journey with Katara and Sokka. In terms of content, the series follows the well-known source material but takes some creative liberties in places and weaves various storylines together. The first season premiered in February 2024 and consists of eight episodes. Netflix subsequently renewed the series immediately for a second and third season, which will continue Aang's story through to the grand finale.
