X-Men Reboot: First Casting Rumors About Magneto and Professor X!
It is also reported that other roles have been cast
The rumor mill surrounding the highly anticipated "X-Men" reboot is in full swing! According to Hollywood insider Apocalyptic Horseman, the actors to play Magneto and Professor X have apparently been cast.
The role of the iconic villain Magneto is reportedly set for Adam Driver. This wouldn't be the actor's first connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the past, he was already considered a favorite for the role of Reed Richards in "The Fantastic Four: First Steps". However, according to media reports, he turned down the offer, after which the role was given to Pedro Pascal. Driver would thus follow in the footsteps of Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender, who portrayed the powerful mutant Erik Lehnsherr in the previous "X-Men" films.
There is also already some speculation surrounding the role of Professor Charles Xavier. As reported by Knight Edge Media, Patrick Wilson – known for his roles in "Aquaman" and the "Conjuring" films – is said to be the top choice to play the leader of the X-Men.
Other names are also being linked to the reboot. "Obsession" star Inde Navarrette recently revealed that she had met with director Jake Schreier, further fueling rumors about a possible casting. Charles Melton, who most recently drew attention with "Warfare" and the second season of "Beef", is also being mentioned. He is said to be a candidate for the role of Beast.
According to current information, Marvel plans to portray the mutants in a significantly younger version. The main characters are expected to be in their early to mid-20s at the start of the story, which is intended to provide a fresh entry point into the popular franchise. Since the next major MCU phase is reportedly set to begin as early as 2028, this year is also considered a realistic timeframe for the X-Men's theatrical release. However, an exact release date has not yet been announced.
Rumors About Other X-Men Members
So is it Charles Melton's turn now? According to insider Jeff Sneider, he isn't the only candidate. Among others, Peter Claffey is also said to be in the running. The actor has drawn attention primarily for his leading role in the "Game of Thrones" spin-off "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms". It'll be interesting to see who ultimately lands the role! The same goes for a few other "X-Men" characters who have been the subject of speculation for several months. In addition to the casting of Beast, there are also rumors surrounding Rogue. "Marty Supreme" actress Odessa A'zion is reportedly in the running for the superheroine role. Sydney Sweeney has also been mentioned as a potential cast member for the "X-Men" film. The star of the coming-of-age series "Euphoria" is reportedly a candidate for the role of Emma Frost. For Sydney Sweeney, this wouldn't be her first appearance in a Marvel film. She has already appeared in Sony's Spider-Man Universe in her role in "Madame Web".
Emma Frost first appeared in the "X-Men" comics back in 1980. She was created by Chris Claremont and John Byrne. The mutant possesses telepathic powers. In addition, her body can take on an organic diamond form. Initially, Emma Frost – also known as the White Queen – was an enemy of the X-Men. Over time, however, she switched sides and joined the superhero team. On the big screen, Emma Frost was portrayed by "Mad Men" actress January Jones as early as 2011 in "X-Men: First Class".
There is also ongoing speculation about whether "Stranger Things" star Sadie Sink will take on the role of Jean Grey, who, like Beast, has been a member of the "X-Men" from the very beginning. Sink is set to appear in the upcoming "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" – though it remains unclear in what role. And so speculation continues to run rampant as to whether she'll make her debut as an X-Men mutant in the new Spidey adventure – and then return in the "X-Men" movie. We can't wait to find out!
