The story is based on a great Western classic

One of the best directors of our time is back: David Fincher is once again teaming up with streaming giant Netflix to direct his first western.

Called "Bitterroot", it tells the story of an ageing ranch owner whose life savings are stolen. To get his money back, he decides to rob banks and hunt down the thieves. However, he is pursued by his own son, the sheriff. According to some insiders, the plot of the film has similarities to "Unforgiven" – one of the great western classics by and starring Clint Eastwood.

"Bitterroot" thus joins a series of new productions that Fincher is planning for Netflix. According to What's on Netflix, the script was written by Michael Gilio, one of the co-authors of "Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves". Gilio wrote the script back in 2008 under the title "Big Hole". However, for years, it was on the so-called Black List, a list of Hollywood's best unfilmed screenplays. A release date has not yet been set.
