The rumors surrounding the casting of the "X-Men" in the Marvel Cinematic Universe continue to grow. According to insider Jeff Sneider, Jesse Plemons is now apparently being considered for the role of Hank McCoy, better known as Beast.

Jesse Plemons, known from series and movies such as "Breaking Bad", "Civil War" and "Killers of the Flower Moon", has long been a fan favorite for the role of Beast. Should Plemons actually be cast, this would lay an important foundation for the new "X-Men" team in the MCU. Beast is not only a physically imposing character, but also a brilliant scientist and strategist who plays a central role within the "X-Men".

In addition, "Stranger Things" star Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Harris Dickinson as Cyclops, Julia Butters as Kitty Pryde and "Euphoria" actress Hunter Schafer in the role of Mystique are apparently on Marvel's wish list. However, official confirmation is still pending.

The new "X-Men" film is to be written by Michael Lesslie, who was also responsible for the prequel "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes". Filming is apparently set to start as early as next year. The potential release dates for the "X-Men" reboot are July 23, 2027 and November 5, 2027.

Beast: An Iconic Character From the "X-Men" Movies

Beast, aka Dr. Henry "Hank" McCoy, is one of the best-known characters in the "X-Men" universe. The blue, furry mutant with superhuman strength and intelligence appeared in several "X-Men" films. Here are all the movies in which Beast appears, along with a brief analysis of his role.

X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)

In "X-Men: The Last Stand", Beast was first introduced in the film series, played by Kelsey Grammer. In this version, Hank McCoy is already an established politician and representative of the mutants in the US Congress. The movie shows him as a diplomatic and strategic character who can still prove himself in battle. His involvement in the final battle against Magneto's army is particularly iconic.

X-Men: First Class (2011)

"X-Men: First Class" introduced the younger version of Beast, played by Nicholas Hoult. Here we see Hank McCoy as a brilliant scientist working for Charles Xavier. He attempts to develop a serum that hides his outward mutant appearance, but instead it leads to his final transformation into the blue, furry creature. The movie shows his inner turmoil between his mind and his physical mutation.

X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)

In "X-Men: Days of Future Past", Nicholas Hoult returns as Beast. In the past, Hank McCoy is Xavier's right-hand man and works to help the mutants during a difficult time. The movie plays with two timelines, and in the future version Kelsey Grammer appears in a brief cameo as an older Beast. The movie shows him as a loyal supporter of Xavier, impressing with both his intelligence and his strength.

X-Men: Apocalypse (2016)

In "X-Men: Apocalypse", Beast once again appears as one of the main characters. He works as a teacher at Xavier's school and helps the young mutants to control their powers. When Apocalypse and his horsemen threaten the world, he takes an active part in the battle. Especially in the action scenes, Beast shines with his acrobatic fighting style and his ability to stand up to even powerful opponents.

This side of Beast has rarely been seen before, and his inner turmoil between reason and anger gives the character more depth. Eventually, however, he realizes the error of his ways and fights alongside his old friends again.

Cameo Appearances and Future Prospects

Beast also made a surprise cameo appearance in the post-credits scene of "The Marvels" (2023), played by Kelsey Grammer. This scene suggests that Beast and the "X-Men" will soon play a bigger role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Conclusion

Beast is one of the most intriguing characters in the "X-Men" franchise, as he embodies the perfect balance between intelligence and physical strength. Both Kelsey Grammer and Nicholas Hoult have portrayed the character in different ways, giving him depth and complexity. With his latest appearance in the MCU, we could soon see a new era for Beast.
