Beloved animated heroes

The Peanuts have enjoyed great popularity for decades. What has since become a major media franchise began in 1950 with the comic strips by Charles M. Schulz. Ever since the classic TV special "A Charlie Brown Christmas" from 1965, Christmas has held a special place in the world of these beloved animated heroes. Back then, Charlie Brown struggled with what's supposed to be the most festive time of the year. Instead of getting into the Christmas spirit, he was always just depressed.

The musical score in the new animated special might help lift the spirits a bit. In addition to music by composer Jeff Morrow, "Snoopy Presents: 12 Days of Snoopy" also features songs like "Get Ready" by John Legend, "Trying to Get There" by Kamasi Washington featuring vocals by Leon Bridges, and the classic "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," performed by Laufey.

And anyone who can't get enough of the Peanuts is sure to be thrilled by this announcement from Apple TV: "Snoopy Unleashed," an animated film featuring Snoopy, Charlie Brown, and the gang, is coming. The official synopsis for the new adventure reads: "When Snoopy runs away from home, Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang go on an emotional and wondrous journey to the vibrant Big City as they search for Snoopy, meet exciting new friends along the way, and discover that real friendship means loving each other just as they are." A realization that certainly also fits the Christmas spirit. The release date for "Snoopy Unleashed" is set for 2027. Until then, you can watch a clip here from the earlier "Peanuts" movie, which was released back in 2015 and was well-received by critics.
