This coming November is a reason to be happy, and not just for die-hard "League of Legends" fans: the second season of Netflix's mega-hit "Arcane" is finally being released! The teaser trailer is already getting us excited for more and our anticipation could hardly be any greater. In addition to many characters from the last season, new characters have also made an appearance, promising great things to come. In this Original episode, we take a close look at the new season - the ideal preparation for the sequel to the spectacular animated series!

Season 1 Recap

Here's a brief rundown of what happened in the first season: We find ourselves in a huge city that is divided into two districts: the gloomy lower town of Zaun and the prosperous upper town of Piltover. Various conflicts unfold here: the scientists Jayce and Viktor are working on the so-called Hextech: a new magical-technological energy source that many consider to be very dangerous. At the same time, the shady Silco is working on the drug Shimmer, which gives people superhuman powers.

Meanwhile, sisters Vi and Powder are orphans who keep their heads above water with petty scams. After they go out stealing and fail, events take a turn for the worse and after a dramatic incident, the two are separated for many years. Under Silco's influence, Powder becomes the unpredictable Jinx, who would like to see the world burn. Meanwhile, her sister tries to make up for the mistakes of her past and save Jinx and the city from a dark future.

Season 1 ends dramatically as Jinx has probably upset the balance of power for good with a serious attack on the Council.

The Story of Arcane Season 2

The teaser trailer already gives us some clues about the plot of "Arcane" season 2. By the way, we do add facts from the original game here and there to our classification: so here's a slight spoiler warning as to how some of the characters could develop, at least superficially.

Noxus Gets Involved

At the beginning of the teaser, we see the destroyed Council. After the brilliant ending of season 1, it is only logical for the plot to follow on directly from this: Piltover's future seems uncertain after half of their leaders have been killed.

As we can deduce from the teaser, the attack calls Noxus to the scene. This is one of the most powerful and feared empires in Runeterra, the universe of "League of Legends". It is known for its military strength and brutal social system. Noxus strives for constant expansion and the unification of Runeterra under its rule. They believe that their order and strength offer the best chance for peace and stability in the world.

In the teaser, we can already see their airships and soldiers in classic red. Here we can well imagine that Noxus promises Piltover retribution if they submit to their influence. It's clear that Noxus also wants revenge, as Mel Medarda was apparently killed in Jinx's attack. She is the daughter of Ambessa, a Noxian warlord who is getting ready for battle at the beginning of the teaser.

Old and New Characters

Caitlyn names three goals for her new mission in Zaun: find Jinx, shut down Shimmer production and neutralize Silco's henchmen. We've already seen a few snippets of this in the trailer: In addition to Jinx's iconic chomper grenades, her Pow-Pow minigun is also used. We're already looking forward to the dramatic showdown between the two sisters.

We can also see many new characters from Zaun in the teaser, whose roles are still unknown. However, one important new and old character in season 2 is particularly worth mentioning: Vander will return, but in a different form as werewolf Warwick. In season 1, it was already hinted at how Vander was altered by experiments. His body was transformed and fused with a complex system of pumps and chambers. As soon as Warwick smells blood, he is unstoppable: In the story of "League of Legends", he hunts down the criminals of Zaun. However, it remains to be seen how this will play out in the series.

The fact that there will be another time jump can be seen above all in Ekko, who now looks more like the character from the original game. In a second teaser clip, he works together with Heimerdinger and they break into a building together. Perhaps this is the moment when Ekko will finally connect his hoverboard to Hextech, enabling him to manipulate time.

Who we have missed in the teasers so far are Jayce and Viktor. How things will continue with the two of them is still unclear. But the second season could be the go-ahead for Viktor's body to undergo evolution through Hextech and transform into the cybernetic Viktor we know from the game.

Release of Arcane Season 2

The exact details will be known in November 2024, when the second season of "Arcane" premieres. The exact release date is not known yet. Sadly, it has already been announced that this will be the series' finale. The storyline will therefore be brought to a close.

However, it cannot be ruled out that developer studio Riot will be planning further series or movies in the future - after all, "Arcane" has been a huge success for them and Netflix so far, which has generated a lot of excitement in terms of both story and animation.
