With "F1," Pitt most recently proved in impressive fashion that he is still a box-office draw. "F1" was a major box office hit in 2025, ranking ninth among the year's most successful films worldwide and earning a Best Picture nomination at the 2026 Oscars.
Now, in 2026, the actor is returning with two new projects. First up is "Heart of the Beast" in theaters. Later this year, the Netflix production "The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth" — the sequel to Quentin Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" — will follow. Reason enough, then, to look back on the superstar's career and discuss his best films in a ranking.
So we turned to the KinoCheck community and asked: What's your favorite Brad Pitt movie? At the same time, we also asked the KinoCheck editorial team—with a slightly different result.

No. 10: 12 Monkeys (1995)
The Top 10 kicks off with a true sci-fi classic: In Terry Gilliam's "12 Monkeys," Brad Pitt takes on the role of the eccentric Jeffrey Goines. The story centers on prisoner James Cole (Bruce Willis), who is sent from a future ravaged by a deadly plague back to the past to find the source of the catastrophe. Pitt shows off his eccentric side here and was even rewarded with an Academy Award nomination for his performance.
No. 9: Snatch (2000)
Guy Ritchie's darkly humorous gangster film "Snatch" thrives on its chaotic ensemble cast — and Brad Pitt certainly stands out here. The film centers on several intertwining stories revolving around a stolen diamond, illegal boxing matches, and shady gangsters. Pitt plays Mickey O'Neil, a hard-to-understand but extremely powerful boxer with a strong sense of self-confidence.
No. 8: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008)
In David Fincher's "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," Pitt plays the title character, Benjamin, who is born with an extraordinary physical trait: he ages in reverse. This fantasy drama follows his unusual life from childhood into old age, focusing primarily on his relationship with Daisy, played by Cate Blanchett. Pitt received an Academy Award nomination for his leading role.

As Lieutenant Aldo Raine, Brad Pitt leads a group of Jewish-American soldiers hunting down Nazis during World War II in "Inglourious Basterds." The movie already enjoys cult status and is one of Tarantino's most popular films. Pitt's performance as Aldo Raine is one of the film's many highlights.

Dark, unsettling, and a true classic of the thriller genre: "Seven" by David Fincher. Pitt plays young Detective David Mills, who teams up with the experienced William Somerset (Morgan Freeman) to hunt down a serial killer. The killer bases his murders on the seven deadly sins and repeatedly leaves gruesome crime scenes as clues for the investigators.
After Pitt had already achieved his breakthrough, "Seven" established him as a Hollywood star and a serious actor capable of taking on more challenging roles. The film laid the foundation for the career of master director David Fincher and is considered a stylistic landmark for the thriller genre.

In "Troy," Brad Pitt took on one of his biggest blockbuster roles. As the legendary warrior Achilles, he is at the center of this epic film, which lavishly brings the Trojan War to the big screen. His former teammate, Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), brings him back to his struggling racing team to fight for success alongside young rookie Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris).
This sports film combines spectacular racing scenes with a classic comeback story and was celebrated above all for its audiovisual experience. Brad Pitt impressively demonstrated that he's still capable of drawing crowds to the theaters. This is clearly reflected in the numbers: "F1" is the actor's most commercially successful film!
No. 1: Fight Club (1999)
However, another film takes the top spot: David Fincher's "Fight Club." Pitt plays Tyler Durden, a charismatic and radical soap salesman who, together with the unnamed narrator, founds a secret Fight Club. In the process, the narrator's life spirals increasingly out of control—a development that's also linked to Tyler Durden's true identity.
What else is there to say about "Fight Club"? Over the years, the film has become a cult classic — and quite a few movie fans count "Fight Club" among their favorites. So it's only logical that "Fight Club" tops the Brad Pitt ranking.
The KinoCheck Editorial Team's Ranking
The vote among the KinoCheck editorial team yielded a slightly different result — although the community and the editorial team's opinions do align when it comes to one particular top contender.
"12 Monkeys," "Snatch," and "Inglourious Basterds" all received the same number of points in our poll and therefore share third place. And the battle for first place was also hotly contested. Here, "Seven" and "Fight Club" went head-to-head. The two classics received the same number of points — and share first place in the editorial ranking.
Honorable Mentions: Which movie highlights didn't make it into the ranking?
But one thing is clear: Brad Pitt has made a whole lot of great movies, not all of which could be included in the ranking. The community poll made it clear that some of you have a completely different favorite movie starring the superstar. Quite a few voters didn't choose any of the films on the list but instead selected the option "Another movie."
For example, the blockbuster "World War Z" didn't make it into the ranking. There's no question that this apocalyptic film is hugely popular with audiences — so much so that Paramount is still planning a sequel. "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" was also a commercial hit; it generated a lot of buzz upon its release, primarily due to the pairing of Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
It wasn't until 2022 that Pitt delivered another standout performance in David Leitch's "Bullet Train," a film that some fans would certainly have liked to see in the ranking. The sports drama "Moneyball" is also among the actor's most popular films — and narrowly missed making the top 10. Pitt also appeared in Damien Chazelle's Hollywood drama "Babylon", which has become a cult classic. "The Tree of Life", in particular, has a devoted fan base that counts the film among Pitt's best.
The superstar is also known for "The Big Short" and the war drama "Fury." Pitt starred alongside George Clooney in the Coen brothers' film "Burn After Reading." And for many fans, the western "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford" is a film that is vastly underrated.
In the 90s, Ridley Scott's "Thelma & Louise" helped Pitt make his breakthrough in Hollywood. After that, he appeared in "Meet Joe Black," among other films. Meanwhile, Pitt starred alongside Tom Cruise in "Interview with the Vampire," which remains popular to this day. Pitt is also remembered for the sci-fi drama "Ad Astra," Iñárritu's anthology film "Babel," and his supporting role in the Oscar-winning "12 Years a Slave."
Pitt's New Movie: Heart of the Beast
Pitt is now returning to the big screen with his new film, "Heart of the Beast." It will be interesting to see if he can once again impress at the box office following the huge success of "F1." The official plot synopsis of the film reads as follows:
After a harrowing plane crash, Special Forces officer James Belmont (Brad Pitt) and his combat dog, Odin, find themselves stranded deep in the Alaskan wilderness. Together, they are forced into a brutal fight for survival against the elements.

The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth
Another Pitt film, "The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth," is set to be released later this year. In this sequel to "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," Pitt's character Cliff Booth takes center stage. The sequel is set in 1977 — and according to reports, Pitt's character is now working as a fixer in Hollywood. "The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth" will be shown in IMAX theaters worldwide for two weeks starting November 26, 2026. It will premiere on Netflix on December 23, 2026.
