Bad news for all Paramount fans: according to Deadline magazine, the studio is rescheduling the release dates for "The Legend of Aang", "Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2" and "Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie".

The upcoming animated film "The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender" marks the start of a planned theatrical trilogy. The movie was originally set to be released in October 2025 – just in time for the 20th anniversary of the series. It was then pushed back to January 30, 2026, but this date can no longer be met either.

The new theatrical release date has been moved to October 9, 2026. Fans will therefore have to wait around eight months more than previously assumed. In return, there is a first logo for the animated adventure.

But "The Legend of Aang" is not the only project affected by the wave of postponements. The second part of the popular animated film "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem" will also be released much later. The return of the iconic fighting turtles was originally planned for October 2026, but has now been delayed by a year to September 17, 2027.

There is at least a small piece of positive news for younger viewers: the third film in the "Paw Patrol" series, called "Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie", will now be coming out a week earlier, on July 24, 2026.

The Biggest Film Series from Paramount Pictures: Hollywood Blockbusters with Cult Status

Paramount Pictures is one of the oldest and most successful film studios in Hollywood. For over a century, the traditional company has been bringing great moments to the big screen – and has produced some of the most famous film franchises in the world. From action-packed spy adventures and epic space journeys to family-friendly animated hits: Paramount is synonymous with diversity, quality and long-lasting pop culture influence. Here is an overview of the most popular franchises from Paramount:

Mission: Impossible

The "Mission: Impossible" franchise is probably Paramount's best-known flagship in the action sector. Since 1996, Tom Cruise has slipped into the role of secret agent Ethan Hunt and delivered breathtaking stunts, global conspiracies and high tension. Originally based on a 1960s TV show, the film series has developed into one of Hollywood's most reliable box office hits. The action increases with each installment – and Tom Cruise performs many dangerous stunts himself, which has earned the series cult status.

Transformers

The "Transformers" series is a gigantic mixture of sci-fi action and spectacular CGI battles. Based on the Hasbro toy line of the same name, Paramount and director Michael Bay brought a series of blockbusters to the big screen from 2007 in which alien robots – Autobots and Decepticons – fight each other. Despite mixed reviews, the movies were a hit at the box office. The spin-off "Bumblebee" (2018) successfully took the series in a more emotional and nostalgic direction.

Star Trek

"Star Trek" is one of the most important science fiction universes ever – and Paramount has been instrumental in the expansion of the franchise for decades. While the original series initially enjoyed moderate success in the 1960s, the universe developed into a cult phenomenon through films, spin-off series and a loyal fanbase. From 1979 onwards, numerous films were made, including classics such as "The Wrath of Khan" (1982) and the reboot by J.J. Abrams from 2009, which inspired a new generation of viewers for the Starfleet adventure. Series such as "Star Trek: Discovery" and "Strange New Worlds" are also currently running successfully on Paramount's own streaming service Paramount+.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

The iconic fighting turtles have been celebrating success for decades – and Paramount regularly brings the heroes Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael back to the big screen. The latest animated film series, launched with "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem" (2023), combines fresh style with nostalgic charm, appealing to both new and old fans. A sequel is already in the works, underlining the confidence in the popularity of the brand.

Paw Patrol

In the children's segment, "Paw Patrol" is one of the most successful franchises. The animated series about heroic dogs delights children worldwide, and the feature films, distributed by Paramount, are also extremely successful commercially. With "Paw Patrol: The Movie" (2021) and the sequel "Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie" (2023), the franchise has also established itself in cinemas.
