Lords of War: First Teaser Trailer for Nicolas Cage Sequel Released

Nicolas Cage is back in action! "Lord of War" has become a true cult classic over time and is now one of the most popular Cage films of the 2000s. A sequel was therefore announced several years ago. And now the first teaser for "Lords of War" has been released!

Cage once again takes on the role of Yuri Orlov and, in the first footage, engages in a duel—with his son! Things get pretty intense. The First Teaser for Lords of War

There isn't much dialogue in the teaser yet—instead, the focus is on the action and the duel between father and son. Yuri's son Anton, played by Bill Skarsgård, asks his father:

"You just refuse to die, don't you?"

Cage then replies:

"Can we at least talk about why you want to kill me?"

The Cast of Lords of War

The most well-known new addition to the cast is the aforementioned Bill Skarsgård. The actor is best known for his villain roles in "John Wick 4" and "It." In the Stephen King adaptions, he portrayed the iconic Pennywise. Alongside Cage and Skarsgård, the ensemble also includes Sylvia Hoeks ("Blade Runner 2049"), Laura Harrier ("Spider-Man: Homecoming"), and Greg Tarzan Davis ("Top Gun: Maverick").

A plot synopsis has already been released, as reported by industry magazine Entertainment Weekly, among others. Here's what "Lords of War" is about:

"When Yuri discovers he has a son, Anton (Skarsgård), a ruthless mercenary mastermind bent on surpassing his father by building a private army and exploiting America's wars in the Middle East, he is thrust into a deadly battle for legacy. What begins as a shocking revelation ignites a fierce father-son rivalry fueled by power, ambition, and betrayal — with the global arms trade hanging in the balance."

When will Lords of War be released?

Alongside the release of the teaser, the film's official release date was also announced: "Lords of War" will hit theaters on January 22, 2027.

Lord of War: The Original Film

The original film, "Lord of War", was released in theaters in 2005. It tells the story of Yuri Orlov, who rises to become one of the world's most influential international arms dealers following the end of the Cold War. Amid political conflicts, civil wars, and shady deals, he builds a global network, supplying weapons to various warring factions. As his business continues to expand, he increasingly finds himself in the crosshairs of international law enforcement. Directed by Andrew Niccol, the film combines elements of a crime drama with a critical examination of the international arms trade and its political and social consequences.
