Gruesome and extremely bloody: the "Evil Dead" franchise continues to enjoy great popularity among horror fans and is considered extremely successful. Now a spin-off is to follow, for which an up-and-coming French talent will be responsible.

As Deadline reports, the next spin-off of the "Evil Dead" series will be directed by Sébastien Vaniček. Vaniček is considered a promising newcomer and impressed audiences last year with his directing debut "Infested". The film focuses on a spider invasion in a French high-rise housing estate - not an easy watch for the arachnophobics among us. The wild mix of black humor and crude monster horror was recognized at Fantastic Fest, where it won both the Best Film and Best Director awards. It was also nominated at the Sitges Film Festival and was awarded a special jury prize.

The involvement of Vaniček for the latest chapter in the "Evil Dead" saga shows that the producers are focusing on new ideas and innovative approaches. The as yet untitled project will once again be overseen by Sam Raimi and Robert Taperts from Ghost Pictures.

Although the plot has so far been kept under wraps, initial rumors suggest that the film could possibly be based on the style of "Evil Dead 2" and "Army of Darkness" - in other words: more comedy than a vicious shocker. However, the Necronimicon is once again likely to be at the center of the story.

According to cult actor Bruce Campbell, fans will be treated to a whole series of new projects in the future - every two to three years to be precise. A release in 2025 therefore seems a possibility. The brothers Sam and Ivan Raimi are also said to be working on an overarching story template that the various directors can use as a guide. So there seems to be no lack of creative ideas.
