Supermax: Jason Clarke stars alongside Will Smith and Michael star Jaafar Jackson
The first plot details for Amazon's action thriller have already been revealed
Hollywood star Will Smith is set to return with his new action thriller "Supermax." After it was recently revealed that "Michael" lead actor Jaafar Jackson had been cast, industry publication Deadline is now reporting another addition. The report states that Jason Clarke will also join the cast of the Amazon film.
What is Supermax about?
Initial details about the plot have already been revealed. Smith and AnnaSophia Robb ("Rebel Rigde") play FBI agents investigating a murder case. The case presents them with a mystery, as it is said to have taken place behind the supposedly "impenetrable walls of a maximum-security prison".
It remains unclear for now which roles Jason Clarke and Jaafar Jackson will portray. David Gordon Green, best known for the latest "Halloween" films, is directing. The screenplay was written by David Weil and David Rosen, who most recently worked as writers on the spy series "Citadel."
When will the film be released?
According to Deadline, the project was originally supposed to be pitched to interested studios at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival—but Amazon beat them to it. Currently, it's expected that "Supermax" won't receive a theatrical release. Instead, the action thriller will likely premiere via streaming on Prime Video. However, it's still unclear exactly when the film will be released.
