Sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood gets official title
In the new film by Quentin Tarantino and David Fincher, we'll see Brad Pitt again as Cliff Booth
The sequel to Quentin Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" has been given an official title. The film, starring Brad Pitt, is now titled "The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth," as Netflix has announced.
The new movie picks up where Tarantino's 2019 film "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" left off. The original was set in Los Angeles in the late 1960s and centered on the struggling actor Rick Dalton, played by Leonardo DiCaprio. In the upcoming sequel, the spotlight shifts to Brad Pitt's character, Cliff Booth, who served as Dalton's stunt double in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood." The release date for the "Cliff Booth" movie had already been announced. The film will be shown in IMAX theaters worldwide for two weeks starting November 25, 2026. It will then premiere on Netflix on December 23, 2026. The official title of "The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth" has now been revealed by the streaming service in a short social media clip, which you can watch here:
David Fincher instead of Quentin Tarantino
As for the story, what we know so far is that in this sequel to "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," several years have passed since we last saw Cliff Booth. The plot is set in 1977. Hollywood has changed quite a bit – and Booth has to come to terms with that first. Quentin Tarantino was responsible for directing and writing the screenplay for the previous film. For "The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth," however, he is only involved as a screenwriter. Directing again was out of the question for him. The reason: Tarantino has long intended to conclude his filmography with his upcoming tenth film. With that in mind, he doesn't want what is likely to be the final film of his career to be a sequel.
Instead, David Fincher is the director of "The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth." Fincher has collaborated with Pitt on several occasions, having previously directed the Hollywood star in the thrillers "Seven" and "Fight Club," as well as the fantasy drama "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button." Alongside Pitt, the cast of "The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth" includes Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, Matt Groove, JB Tadena, Corey Fogelmanis, and Karren Karagulian. Pitt is also active behind the camera: he is on board as a producer alongside Ceán Chaffin.
Brad Pitt must first fight for survival in the wilderness
It will be interesting to see whether Pitt can land a hit with this film. Expectations are certainly high; after all, its predecessor, "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," grossed $393 million at the global box office. The film was also well-received by critics. And "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" also garnered a lot of attention at the 2020 Oscars. Tarantino's film was in the running for ten nominations and walked away with two awards at the end of the night: for Best Production Design and for Brad Pitt as Best Supporting Actor.
Before Pitt appears in "The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth," he has another film that is set to be released shortly. In the survival thriller "Heart of the Beast," he plays a Special Forces officer who survives a plane crash in Alaska with his retired combat dog. However, the duo is now stranded in the wilderness. Together, they must find a way to survive. "Heart of the Beast" hits theaters on September 25, 2026. You can get a glimpse of the film in the trailer:
